E-Risk Quant Analyst / Team Lead

Business : eRisk, Markets

Role Title : eRisk Quantitative Analyst GHRS

Proposed Global Career Band : 5/6

Customer Segment & Location : GB&M, TBC

Role Purpose (overall high level summary of the role) :

- eRisk Quantitative Analyst, working on data analysis and pricing, risk management and execution algorithms for relating to Foreign Exchange and Fixed-Income Electronic Trading activities.

Principal Accountabilities :

- Key activities and decision making areas Typical Key Performance Indicators and Targets

Impact on the Business :

- Quantitative support in the development of pricing strategies for EU/GB/US cash bonds and/or STIRs, Swaps.

- Quantitative support in the development of risk management strategies for cash bonds and/or STIRs, Swaps.

- Quantitative support in the development of market execution strategies on Government bonds Futures.

- Ensuring integrity of data used by eRisk team for quantitative analysis.

- Implementation of performance simulation of market making strategies within a cross-asset back-testing platform.

- Analyses of market execution performance within the hedging strategy.

- Analyses of client flow assigning systematic value to trades.

- Ensuring high-quality of deliveries

- Data-Mining of tick data for various Fixed-Income markets.

- Incremental deliveries of MIS tools

- Increase in hedging strategy profitability

- Quality of testing

- Integrity

- Generation of new ideas

- Culture of various quantitative techniques used for time series analyses.

- Culture of machine learning techniques.

Customers / Stakeholders :

- Internal clients (trading & sales)

- IT Department

- Management

- Provision of relevant MIS information.

- Coordinating to meet deliveries.

Leadership & Teamwork :

- Ability to work efficiently with members of the eRisk team.

- Ability to communicate effectively with other stakeholders.

- Timely delivery of objectives.

Operational Effectiveness & Control :

- Oversee development of monitoring and relevant reconciliation tools help ensure tight controls

Major Challenges (The challenges inherent in the role that require a continual test of the role holder's abilities)

- Balancing the need for a continual cycle of development and improvement with the need to minimize operational risk.

- Coordination with Quants in London to ensure timely implementation of deliverables.

- Coordination across a disparate group of stakeholders across many time zones.

- Keeping up to date with current developments in the market place.

Role Context (The environment and operating conditions of the role including the extent of guidance and authority) :

- The role will be located in off-shore.

- The project is a cross-asset project.

- The role holder will work jointly with FI, FX and Equity technology teams.

- All work done in this role will be tested prior to deployment in live systems

- All live deployments will be closely monitored

Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements) :

- Is aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.

Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements) :

- Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

- Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter-alia, the Group Compliance policy.

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications (For the role - not the role holder. Minimum requirements of the role.) :

- Ideally educated to PhD level in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Data Science. Top tier University

- Knowledge of statistical learning and data-mining technics.

- Knowledge of script programming languages (q, python, matlab)

- Knowledge and understanding of technology related to an electronic trading business.

- Knowledge and understanding of Fixed-Income products.
