Engineering Manager - SaaS - Startup

An exciting opportunity to work with a product company funded by Sequoia Capital ( funded Google, Apple, Whatsapp) and is involved in building a integrated platform on SAAS which helps suppliers and providers manage complex transactions. Its a start-up firm based in Gurgaon.

Job Specifications:

Role: Engineering Manager(handson technical role)

Location: Gurgaon

Experience: 8+ years

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead development activities and be the anchor of technical expertise with technical teams.

Review work estimates and provide oversight of solution builds

Ensure the proper translation and validation of system requirements into software design through iterative sessions with Product Management and other SME's

Implement and enforce engineering best practices using modern standards and patterns

Review unit test plans, tests, and code coverage to ensure high quality delivery

Implement engineering excellence by enforcing regular code reviews, continuous integration, high test code coverage, on-going code refactoring and adequate documentation -

Ensure correct usage of industry standard software and frameworks and accompany the following task :

- Decompose technical tasks and provide accurate estimates

- Coach less experienced members of your team

- To undertake development tasks without supervision, including software designing, programming and testing within a Test-Driven Development process

- To monitor progress and provide updates to the Project Manager

- To understand and apply a formal quality approach

Specific knowledge, skills and abilities: -

8+ years of application development and solution building experience

Minimum of 5 years- experience in a senior developer or technical lead role having led the technical direction of medium to large-scale enterprise projects through the SDLC

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, from Tier 1 and Tier 2 college.

Expert level understanding of modern software development methodologies and frameworks

Strong experience integrating systems using secure web services, API's or other channels -

Proficient creating design documents such as ERD- s, logical/physical/functional designs, process flows and systems integration

Proven experience with the JAVA/J2EE development environment as well as products such as SVN, TFS, Maven, Artifactory, SONAR and PQM - Extensive experience building JAVA solutions on the Apache Web server, using the JBoss application server and connecting to the Oracle database platform

Proficiency building web applications using Java EE, Web Services, Java Servlets, JSP, Junit, HTML5 and JQuery, Angular.js. - Knowledge of Clustering, Thread-pool Management and designing systems for scalability

Experience with frameworks such as Spring, MVC, and ORM products such as Hibernate -

Experience building service-oriented enterprise architecture using a RESTFul web services approach

Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, to build consensus, and to successfully manage customer relationships

Highly organized, systematic and analytical

Experience working with complex heterogeneous systems environments

Self-motivated with the ability to make solid technical / business decisions with minimal managerial direction - Superior communication skills, having a professional demeanor
