Engineering Manager - Product - NIT/IIT

Nature of Work:

This is a manager position and individual is expected to be:

- Managing the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities.

- Ensure product readiness from conceptualization, planning, design, rollout and operations phases and help achieve the organization goals.

- Participate in difficult and typical code reviews with responsibility of a small/large modules.

- To schedule the product time lines and achieve the same

- To understand and identify product development delay and take on course corrective action.

- Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research, competitor analysis, and working with Gartner/Forrester.

- Introduction of new / improved products, and/or managing the ongoing positioning of current products

- Liaisoning with key customers or focused groups for new product development

- Responsible for management of 15-20 members consisting of PL, TL and team under them.

- Involved in all Strategic Business Unit related issues.

- Participate in generation of Functional/technical documentation of product/ package

- Proven expertise in estimation, planning, project management, budgeting and quality assurance.

- Able to coach/ mentor the junior members in the project and provide necessary support to them.

- Build competency development and drive to improve productivity.

Qualification & Experience:

- Engineering. degree in preferably in Computer Science,IT/ MCA, MTech ( Full Time through out 1st Div.) from a reputed institutes like NIT/IIT/REC with CS/IT

- This position is for a person who is deeply interested & passionate about developing new products.

- 11-14 years experience in S/W development across a wide variety of product development projects, out of which 2yrs in project management and people management.

- PMP or PMI certification is desirable.

- Domain knowledge of BFSI/ BPM/ ECM/ CCM/ DMS / Ecommerce /Mobility / Big Data practices is desirable.

Technical Skills:

- Knowledge of current technological trends in the S/W development industry, such as OOPs, Multi-Tier S/W development, Component Architecture, Web Based S/W

- Good experience on Core Java, JSP, Servlets, EJB, Oracle/SQL, App Servers.

- Responsible for the end to end product development & Architecture Design.

- Responsible for maintaining an ongoing product schedule by prioritizing requests and requirements.

- Communicating and coordinating with key customers, sales staff, vendors, internal teams.

- Tracking & monitoring the milestones of every product that is getting developed.

Managerial & Leadership Skills:

- Thorough understanding of Project Management methodologies and tools.

- Knowledge of system integration issues.

- Ability to gather and analyze data and draw logical conclusions

- Understanding the companys vision and goals, business operations and market.

- Experience of planning, budgeting and quality assurance as it relates to S/W development projects.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships at all levels.

- Ability to inspire, train and mentor and lead the team.

- Ability to coordinate and prioritize customer requests with the assistance of other managers to ensure the highest level of service possible to the customer.

- Ability to write performance evaluations, issue counseling forms and disciplinary actions, handle employee complaints and grievances and recommend the hiring, termination and promotion of staff.
