DEVICE ENGINEERING - R&D LEADER - SMARTPHONE

Role:

- Engineering Director or Sr Director (18+ years)

- Sr Technical / Engineering Manager (15+ years)

Reporting to:

- VP of Engineering / R&D Department Head

- Liaising with stakeholders: Customers, Product Managers, System Architects, Program Managers, Pre-Sales, Internal Business Partners (IT, HR, Admin), Sr. Management

Experience - 15+ years

Key Responsibilities:

- Responsible for Engineering deliveries to the end customer / client

- Owns and manages one or more engineering (R&D) teams

- Owns and manages R&D activities: SW development, SW testing, SW maintenance

- Managing vendor ecosystem for product development - vendors, outsourcing partners

- Makes decisions for own team. Influences org / department / business level decisions

Domain Skills Requirement:

- Must have strong design and development experience in feature phones, smartphones, wearables products based on Android, Tizen, KaiOS, etc.

- Must have experience in BSP (board support package) and bring up, Linux Device Drivers, Device Trees, Linux Kernel, Bootloaders, UART, I2C, SPI, Flash, LPDDR3/4, eMMC, NAND, SDIO and Trace32 debugging

- Must be proficient in C/C++ for mobile or wearable platforms based on Linux (Android, KaiOS or Tizen preferable).

- Should have good knowledge of various security modules:

- Secure boot, trusted/verified boot, dm-verity, Device encryption (FBE / FDE)

- Secure OS(TEE), Trusted Application, Key Management

- Biometric security (Fingerprint / Face lock, etc)

- Biometric Payment (fingerprint, 2D/3D face payment, etc)

- Should have Good knowledge of various layers: Sensor Service/ Sensor HAL / Sensor Driver (Linux kernel, Sensor Hub, I2C, SPI)

- Should have good knowledge of Linux Display framework: Frame Buffer, HW Composer, Display Drivers, Graphics processors interfaces such as ARM Mali, Qualcomm Adreno

- Should have good knowledge of Linux Power and Performance management framework: CPUidle, PMQoS, CPUFreq, DVFS & Performance Governors

- Should have good knowledge of system level power management: including PMU drivers, System Clock and Power Management, Power Drivers, Battery & Fuel Gauge drivers

- Should have good knowledge of the Linux File Systems such YAFFS, ext4, RAMFS, etc

- Should have knowledge on Telephony technology and protocols is desirable.

- Should have knowledge or familiarity of Mozilla Fire OS or KAI OS is desirable

- Should have knowledge of setting up and troubleshooting networking and related issues.

- Should have good understanding of analysing of logs provided by the testers or after sales to provide solution for the customer facing issues.

- Should have familiarity with GIT is a MUST

Qualification:

- Masters / Bachelor in any discipline of Engineering
