Engineering Manager - Database

Education and Experience

- Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Equivalent

- 12+ years of IT experience with at least 5+ years of experience managing engineering and development teams, large projects and programs.

Candidate Description

- Traditional Database Technologies - Oracle, DB2 UDB, Microsoft SQL Server

- Open Source Database Technologies - MySQL, PostgreSQL etc.

- Engineered Systems - ExaData, Netezza etc.

- Industry standards and business requirement of Database Technologies

- Knowledge of Emerging Database Technologies - NoSQL and NewSQL

- Experience of vendor application management, knowledge of Oracle Enterprise manager will be a plus

- Application Development and Test Automation Management

- Experience in a "DevOps" role and managing a - DevOps- Team

- Knowledge in Puppet, Chef, or other automation frameworks

- Experience in a UNIX environment, familiar with scripting technologies like shell or perl, excellent troubleshooting and error analysis skills

- Full working knowledge of Information Security concepts

- Experience in multi-vendor environments

- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle

- Knowledge of Agile Scrum methodologies

- Project Management Requirements

- Strong prioritization skills in a fast paced, time sensitive environment

- Demonstrated accountability for resolution of issues

- Project time reporting

- Estimate/Project risk analysis

- Project Planning and tracking experience

Role Description:

- To lead the Database engineering, development functions and to identify and execute improvements in database services, through automation, self-service enablement and process improvements.

- Manage the development, maintenance and enhancement work of tools used in Infrastructure support

- Adopting DevOps culture in the team
