Key Accountabilities - Active research into multiple economies, with an opportunity to learn about India and the wider region, using economic analysis and quantitative methods - Actively contributing to the team's output, working closely alongside the head of the team and senior colleagues. - Liaise with research colleagues in other areas and geographies to ensure consistency of views - Learn the art of writing thematic research reports, with supervision from senior analysts, on areas of coverage, and participate in regular publications as well as ad hoc publications to update clients on new views and changes to existing views Stakeholder Management and Leadership - Role requires skills to coordinate and communicate with colleagues, and especially work with the regional head to interpret and analyse data. - Eventually, the candidate will be expected to interact with Barclays' institutional clients. - Key stake holders are Head of EM Asia (ex-China) Research, and other economic research colleagues, with whom Economics Research needs to work, Sales colleagues who manage client relationships, trading who are important internal clients, and Barclays' institutional clients who rely on Barclays Research as an independent input into their investment management processes. Risk and Control Objective : - Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards Person Specification - Solid understanding of Economic theory and practice developed through formal education and/or work in Economic research roles - 1-3 years of experience in supporting senior economists, with demonstrable ability to follow instructions, and think laterally. - Economic modelling experience will be an advantage. - Demonstrable ability to write coherently, with short deadlines. - Familiarity and ease with mathematics and statistics and various analytical tools is critical for success in this role. - Strong and demonstrable interest in markets, particularly macro markets (e.g. currencies and rates)
