Job Description

Economics Research Mumbai (for a leading UK based Investment Banking firm)

The Economics team are a global team of leading economists who analyse the developments in macroeconomic data and central bank policy to produce research themes and economic and financial forecasts.

As an Economist, the candidate will work with a senior analyst as part of the Global Economics Research team and will be expected to gather, track and analyse relevant data, update models/analysis, in relation to economic and policy developments as they affect the markets for financial assets, including government and corporate bonds, equities and foreign exchange.

We are looking for candidates with high levels of analytical capability, excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Job Responsibilities include

- Analysing and evaluating key economic data using various mathematical and statistical models

- Updating and developing various databases

- Keeping track of relevant economic indicators and writing up ongoing commentaries/updates

- Generating files/analyses for client requests as required

- Working with the Global Economics team to generate new ideas as well as produce and publish research reports

Skill Set/ Experience required

Basic Qualifications:

- Masters degree from premier educational institution

Technical Skills:

- Stata, R, Matlab

- Proficient in MS Excel and MS Office applications

Personal skills required:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills

- Strong attention to detail

- Demonstrated ability to work in a time sensitive environment

- Ability to work effectively in a team environment

- Strong interest in the subject matter

- Resourcefulness, and proactive attitude
