Job Description :
- DuPont Pioneer is a leader in plant biotechnology, delivering advanced plant genetics to farmers.
- We are seeking a talented data scientist with excellent analytical skills to help develop advanced analytics and decision support systems at DuPont Pioneer.
- We are developing solutions to integrate, present, and analyze data to support the characterization and development of commercial traits for various crops in Pioneer markets and help farmers get the best outcome for every acre planted.
- We are looking for a highly motivated computational scientist who can bring his or her quantitative abilities to bear on an array of exciting problems at the forefront of biotechnology and machine intelligence.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- The successful candidate will join the data science group, a part of global data science and informatics group of DuPont Pioneer at Hyderabad, India.
- This group (a) works with research partners to advance the discovery, characterization, and development of genetic modifications that confer traits such as drought tolerance, nitrogen use efficiency, and resistance to herbicides & pesticides and (b) develops advanced predictive analytics capabilities for use by partners in research, production, and services.
- The data scientist will be accountable for creating predictive models based on high-complexity, high-dimensional data sets, (e.g. remote-sensing, hyper/multi-spectral imaging, satellite, weather, soil, genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, etc.).
- In addition to building accurate predictive models that can be used to drive decisions, the data scientist will also make use of exploratory and descriptive data mining techniques in order to fully characterize the nature, structure, quality, and information content of the data.
- The data scientist will also be responsible for effective experimental design and will work closely with partners to carefully define research questions as well as optimal study procedures and data collection processes.
- Candidates who have a background in statistical computing and machine learning will be favored.
Qualifications :
- A Masters or Ph.D. degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or related field and 4-8 years of relevant experience is required.
- The ideal candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to successfully collaborate with colleagues from diverse technical backgrounds.
- Candidates with experience or interest in the following are strongly encouraged to apply
- Hands on experience in developing and implementing methods in predictive analytics & computational statistics is Required
- Experience with supervised and unsupervised machine learning theory and practice is Required
- High dimensional data analysis (p - n, dimensional reduction, etc.) is Required
- Frequentist and Bayesian statistical analyses (ANOVA, hierarchical and mixed modeling, FDR procedures, etc.)
- Statistical computing in R, Python and MATLAB, strong experience in at least one of these preferred; Familiarity with SQL and query performance optimization is a Plus
- Software development skills (Java, C, object oriented design) is a Plus
- Remote sensing and image processing experience is a Plus and Interest in High Performance Computing and Big Data computing architectures is a Plus. Candidates with managerial experience will be favored.
