Grade 3 - Lead Analyst/ Lead Data Scientist

Overall Purpose :

- Understand clients' business objectives and strategy to ensure that analysis work is focused on areas where most value can be added

- Collaborate across teams to understand business challenges and recommend innovative solutions to meet requirements

- Ability to collate and analyse data from various sources using both traditional and BigData platforms

Key Responsibilities :

- Collaborate with stakeholders/ team leaders in order to understand problem statements and design & execute potential solutions

- Mentor team members and ensure fault-free execution of projects/ solutions

- Integration of multiple sources of data working on BigData platforms. Ability to analyse complex data and processes is necessary.

- Work on multiple unstructured problems to deliver insights/ end-to-end solutions and improve our clients- understanding of their customers using analysis/ statistics/ machine learning algorithms

- Keep abreast of the latest developments in the data science space across industries for potential uses

- Develop an understanding of key dunnhumby capabilities

Experience/ Skills Required :

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an analytical/ statistical role

- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a Numerical subject e.g. Physics,Engineering, Computer Science, etc.

- Masters qualification in Statistics, Mathematics or Economics

- Strong quantitative background & analytical abilities is necessary

- Strong self-starter

- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with senior leaders

- Person should be familiar with at least some of the following software -PYTHON, HIVE, APACHE SPARK

- Logical Thinker and creative problem solver

- Hands-on exposure to 2 or more of the following fields:

- Big data/HADOOP/ Apache Spark

- Ability to synthesize unstructured data and find actionable Themes/insights using Python/SAS

- Knowledge of pattern mining/detection

- Hand-on experience in machine learning/ statistical algorithms :

- Boosting techniques, Decision Trees, Random Forests, Logistic Regression, Neural Nets, SVM, Clustering

- Hands on experience in building machine learning based automated solutions - prototyping, creating self-learning algorithms, etc

- Strong Excel and Power Point skills

Additional Desirable Experience/ Skills :

- Experience of dealing with clients face to face (desired)

- Experience of leading a team (desired)

- Project management skills (desirable)

- Experience of presenting analysis to a wide and non-technical audience (desired)

- Relevant analytical experience in the following industries: retail, consumer goods, telecoms, finance, media, pharmaceutical (desired)

- Experience in working with Consumer Goods or retail clients is an advantage but not mandatory.

People profile / Behavioural skills :

- Comfortable dealing with the cultural and political challenges of working with clients in a different countries speaking different languages

- Willingness and desire to travel or work abroad, for varying periods of time (see special features)

- Ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy to understand way

- Ability to work to tight deadlines under stressful situations.

- High degree of self-motivation

- Flexibility - within working hours, working location, and also within the level of work that needs to be done
