DGM - Fleet Operation - Forming part of the sales team, the candidate will play a key role in making sure our products get to the right place at the right time. The role supports the National Sales Head in the execution of a range of tasks related to reaching the rural hinterland in an organized manner. The incumbent will take an interdisciplinary approach incorporating distribution, trade marketing, supply chain management and integrated marketing communication to design and manage a go-to-market strategy for exploiting opportunities at the wholesale channel of distribution. - He will explore state-of-the-art models and solutions to the ground level challenges of managing trade inventories, reach and availability, logistics, transportation, information and complex networks and more. - The incumbent will have knowledge and skills for integrating effort into a coordinated system while assessing risks and design mitigation strategies. The ultimate aim of the position is to plan and execute van operations to increase service levels and reduce costs on the one hand and uncovering good sales opportunities on the other. With an owner's mindset, the incumbent will manage the selling-in to the wholesale and use data to grow in-store sales. Job Description : - Responsible for effective implementation of van operations in line with sales strategies and policies framed to meet sales targets and objectives. - Spearhead sales throughput of MFD through van by continuously improving service standards. - Work with distributors, stockists and other trade partners to establish van sales as a preferred medium of purchase. - Publish guidelines for smooth functioning of vans of all channel partners with optimal costs. - Scan the environment and understand competitors- activities, regulatory issues both at the local and national level and formulate strategies following applicable laws. - Market development and brand management activities through merchandising and sell-out initiatives at the wholesale level. - Institute market intelligence system to provide feedback on competitive moves in the end market. - Data driven approach with a robust monitoring mechanism for each van through GPS based applications. - Be a champion by implementing creative ideas and innovative solutions to overcome roadblocks in selling through the wholesale channel. - The candidate should have a sales/distribution background with exposure to logistics and transportation including documentation for external customers. He should have the ability to run reports weekly and monthly to ensure analysis of data and monitoring of budgets. He will be expected to prepare comprehensive monthly management report analyzing the data related to plan and actuals ensuring accuracy. Skills, experience and attributes sough t: - Graduate / Post-graduate qualification in the areas of business management / finance / supply chain / Logistics with about 10 years experience in consumer goods sales and distribution. - Previous experience in managing a large fleet of vehicles for reach and availability of FMCG products. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a flair for establish customer relationships. - Someone who takes a pro-active approach to his work including problem-solving - An excellent team player, who enjoys being an integral part of a multi-functional team to achieve goals and outcomes.
