Purpose of the role:
Portfolio Management Function is tasked with developing a view for the long term portfolio as well as ensuring competitive value is maintained in the current term. The role is expected to build on series of iterations with Strategy & Program Mgmt function to build and refine analytical portfolio models to aid selection and prioritization of strategic portfolio choices for the business.
Education & Experience:
- MBA (Finance major is a plus)
- 8-10 years of experience in portfolio management/ BD, expected to do hands on work
- Knowledge of healthcare databases, routine financial reporting, and strong ability to handle analytical data
- Experience with portfolio visualization tools is a plus
- Knowledge in the therapeutic areas or biotech background is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills, ability to work across functions and levels of seniority
- Must have hands on work experience designing and developing financial models and strong proficiency in MS office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Solid understanding of drug product development processes
- General understanding of Portfolio Management (Emerging and Developed Markets)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for building early stage revenue/financial models for portfolio assets, maintain the prioritization model for ongoing programs, including development budgets, market entry dates and revenue forecast.
2. Develop the logic for forecasting long-term potential (e.g., based on medical trends, potential bio-similar penetration, dynamics between older and newer generation treatments, etc.); develop tools for visualization/communication
3. Value assessment of product and technology in-licensing opportunities
4. Analyze profitability index: Assist in developing quant/NPV based assessment of future value, and priority and to assign financial risks
5. Responsible for ensuring portfolio prioritization for early stage work initiated in PD (PAB, CLPD)
6. Establish processes for monitoring and updating decisions based on significant changes in program valuation
7. Be strong data-based contributor to recommendations and framing of portfolio choices
8. Provide domain/functional input (content) into strategic portfolio assessments and be an Expert Resource.
9. Periodic review of approved products and Business cases.
10. Build Portfolio assessment and prioritization as a sub-function with incorporation of best practices in the field, advanced simulations and modeling and quant-based analytics.
