DIRECTOR - LEGAL  We have been retained by our client, a well established, professionally managed, multi-billion dollar group with multiple foreign affiliations, in the process of setting up a bank to identify a DIRECTOR- LEGAL.   The position will be based at Mumbai.   Key Responsibilities   - Raise awareness of, and address legal risks and issues by providing the business specific legal training.  - Provide legal advice and transactional support to the business and be responsible for driving the business forward.   - Implement at country level the vision, strategy and direction.  - Promote active cooperation between the business legal teams to encourage a collegiate working environment across the businesses.  - Provide updates on any relevant changes in applicable laws and regulations on a timely basis.  - Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on request as well as pro-actively.   - Raise for discussion/action any points of concern/improvement.  - Work effectively and proactively with other support function teams to manage all country legal risks  - Provide training for staff on an on-going basis, particularly on any relevant changes in laws and regulations.  - Advise/ Support on legal matters and undertake legal documentation for amongst others Credit and Loans, Global Financial Markets, Trade and Commodity Finance, Syndications, Relationship Management, Facilities Management and Treasury front office.  - Promote, lead and manage the culture and practice of Compliance and ethics to ensure the conduct of business is within legal, regulatory requirements and ethical standards consistent with supporting Group’s strategic direction and growth aspirations.   - Liaison with law firms and with regulatory authorities.  - Handling litigations/ legal suits/ cases/ complaints filed by or against the Company.  - Ensure that external legal engagements are coordinated and effective and provide support for panel arrangements when required.  - Drive the development and maintenance of good relationships with internal and external business stakeholders at appropriate levels ensuring an open and cooperative environment.  - Provide legal advice, briefings, recommendations and reports on material legal risks and issues to business, country and functional stakeholders.  - Contribute to Team Legal’s risk governance through providing country perspective on legal risk policies and procedures and ensuring consistency in the Country’s approach to legal risk management.   - Standardize and develop credit documentation.  Desired skills  - Good judgment enabling the provision of sound advice in difficult areas of law, regulation and practice and proactive management of legal risk.  - Must possess strong team player qualities, excellent interpersonal skills and multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity.  - Sound judgment on business practices, and reputational risk.  - Personal authority and integrity with proven ability to establish relationships and exert influence at the country level.   - Independence, robust ethics and resilience.  Candidates should have a degree in Law, with between 10 to 15 years of experience.  Interested candidates meeting with the above requirement should send their resumes in word format only .
