Director, Business Development, Europe/Asia – Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology Services

Job Description

Ideal candidate will be located in Bangalore, India

JOB DESCRIPTION

- Develop and execute on Business Development strategies to maximize growth. Serve as a key executive responsible for developing and expanding new business opportunities with existing and new customers in Europe and Asia. Provide technical and consultative advice to potential and existing clients. Establish, grow and manage long-term and profitable relationships. Assist in the preparation RFI/RFP responses, proposals and bid defenses.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- responsible for business development activities for R&D (Formulations & Analytical) and Manufacturing services (Oral Solids, Semi-solids & Liquids) as well as Biologics

- responsible for driving and coordinating business development (sales) activities targeted to Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology customers in Europe and Asia to identify, qualify, and progress opportunities

- responsible for developing short and long-term targeting sales and marketing strategy, and sales planning

- responsible for competitor intelligence in the market geographies

- responsible for collaborating with Operations experts to consultatively drive business

- responsible for coordinating cross-border BD opportunities with the BD team from the USA

ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS

- Maintain in-depth knowledge of all services for appropriate cross-sell opportunities.

- Actively prospect and leverage potential new business opportunities within geographic region, and potential new and/or existing Customers/Accounts.

- Cultivate strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers and develop an excellent knowledge of customer organizations.

- Actively network in the industry to establish relationships and to identify potential opportunities.

- Continuously monitor status of leads and opportunities to ensure a pipeline of opportunities is maintained.

- Analyze potential opportunities and develop sales strategies for each customer account.

- Establish brand recognition.

- Work with Global BD to develop winning opportunity strategies.

- Coordinate with Business group to develop proposals.

- Utilizes CRM to establish reports and dashboards to analyze business development and sales activities and track progress.

- Communicate all account activity to Senior Leaders and/or appropriate individuals through the CRM system and via e-mail.

- Provide support standardized and creative proposals in response to customers' expressed needs. Follow up on proposals to customers. Maintain customer, proposal and contract database/tracking systems.

- Develop relationships with both traditional customer base and non-traditional/new customers and markets.

- Work directly with operations to help customers understand the technical aspect of capabilities and assist in closing business. Maintain an advanced technical understanding of service offerings and provide "best practice" advice and solutions throughout sales cycle.

- Work across company's service lines to cross-promote and respond to RFPs as well as develop internal relationships needed to create solutions designed using multiple services. Facilitate marketing and strategic links amongst company business lines.

- Support sales and marketing services by attending, participating and speaking at trade shows and industry conferences.

Desired Skills & Experience

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Proven track record at developing mid-level and high-level contacts.

- Solid understanding of the principles of pharmaceutical development and biologics.

- Demonstrate ability to work creatively and effectively in a fast-paced environment.

- Attention to detail and ability to work simultaneously on multiple priorities.

- Excellent skills using Microsoft Office Suite.

- Ability to influence others both internally and externally.

- Ability to work independently and as a team player.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Strategic business awareness and analytical skills.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy/Science with 8+years related experience, including 3-5 years of relevant industry (CRO/Pharmaceutical) sales experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Frequent domestic and international travel (50% of time).

- Frequent long, varied hours.

- Extensive use of telephone, laptop and face-to-face communication requiring accurate perception of speech.
