Director - Fund Raising, ActionAid Association, New Delhi, India

1. POSITION VACANT: Director- Fund Raising, ActionAid Association (AAA), New Delhi, India

2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

ActionAid Association (AAA) is a national organization and an affiliate of ActionAid International federation, a global movement of people working together to further human rights and defeat poverty for all. Working in India since 1972, AAA currently operates out of 12 Regional Offices, spread across 25 States and one Union Territory.

A respected non-profit, AAA is known for working with people, by building their agencies and solidarities at local, national and international levels.

AAA supports more than 400 short and long terms projects in the following areas, positively impacting more than 8 million poor and marginalized people:

(1) Peoples- access to natural resources and livelihoods

(2) People's participation in governance

(3) Human rights for women and girls

(4) Care, protection and development of children as equal citizens

(5) Building a just, secular, violence free and peaceful society and state

(6) Solidarity with progressive actions, beyond local and national boundaries

AAA wishes to hire an accomplished director to lead the Fund Raising function with emphasis on adopting innovative practices, growing, communicating and managing a large community of donors and leading a large team of fund raisers.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director- Fund Raising shall be responsible for leading and providing strategic direction to fund raising initiatives at AAA.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

(1) Developing creative and innovative fund raising concepts and asks, in line with the organization's mission, goals and values, through strategic market intelligence, research and understanding of the pulse of potential donors;

(2) Developing efficient systems for creating, nurturing and managing a large, motivated and enthusiastic donor base;

(3) Developing an effective donor communication strategy, in collaboration with the Communication function, for maintaining excellent donor relations;

(4) Networking with other similar fund raising organizations for better understanding of development issues and to identify niche markets and potential donors;

(5) Planning and executing proper investment decisions in consultation with and guidance from the Executive Director, on a regular basis;

(6) Working with the Organizational Effectiveness function towards building and leading an effective, result-oriented fund raising team, as well as collaborating with other fund raising channels, to achieve agreed revenue and donor targets;

(7) Working closely with Finance function to ensure effective monitoring and control mechanisms for fund raising investments and also for creating MIS to facilitate proper management of income generated through fund raising efforts;

(8) Collaborating with the Policy & Programmes function and regional offices to build strong programme - fund raising integration and in order to reach updated information about work at the ground to donors/ prospective donors;

(9) Synergizing with Sponsorship Support function to create the - child - link product- as a First Fund Raising Product;

(10) Ensuring that statutory reporting timelines at the country, regional and international levels, are meticulously adhered to - this includes keeping the senior leadership, governing bodies and other relevant stakeholders, informed of fund utilization and progress in fundraising efforts and ROI;

(11) As a member of the senior leadership team, participate and represent the organization at various fora, as required, within and outside the organization;

(12) Represent the organization in Governing Board /General Assembly meetings to share updates and plans as and when required.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:

Applicant must have a Master's Degree in Management/ Marketing/ Social Sciences/ Social Work, or related field.

Experience:

Applicant must possess a minimum of 10 to 12 years of relevant professional experience.

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Excellent leadership ability and team building skills;

(2) Strong communication and interpersonal skills;

(3) Good team player and a gender sensitive co-worker;

(4) Strong conviction and skills for the empowerment of the poor and disadvantaged groups;

(5) Proficiency in all applications of MS Office, especially Word and Excel;

(6) Willing to travel extensively as required for work requirements.

5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:

AAA is a progressive paymaster and endeavors to position itself at par with leading international non-profits working in India. AAA will offer Rs. 22.98 lacs per annum, on a cost to organization basis.

(Note: The amount includes PF contribution. In addition, there is Group Medical Insurance, with coverage of the post holder and dependents. Personal Accident Insurance and gratuity is payable as per law and norms of the organization.)

7. TENURE & CATEGORY OF EMPLOYMENT: The successful candidate shall be offered a fixed term, three year contract. Further extension, if any, will be on the basis of the incumbent's performance, fund availability and organizational requirement.
