These products need to meet stringent quality expectations while innovating at the leading edge integrating modern mechanical, hardware and software technology components. Their capabilities have been successfully established by several 100's of drones (or, UAVs) in very demanding applications. They are now scaling their operations - looking for leaders and people managers to join our journey, taking ownership for key technical and operational functions.

- Deliver products: To lead and manage a team of software developers that meets the company's goals and objectives- deliver software to the product with best possible quality, within budget and on agreed schedule.

- Strong software discipline: To build and mature a sustainable top-class software engineering organization that integrates well with the overall systems engineering- mechanical and electronics disciplines

- Mature engineering practices: To drive the strategic direction of our products & services considering customer feedback and emerging technologies; steer technology/process/tool choices for continuously improving reliability, predictability and usability; to keep up-to-date with the latest software development technologies and methodologies; establish practices to deliver code that is consistently error free, maintainable and re-usable.

- Learning & Growth: Expect to evolve as the senior-most functional leader of software development/engineering function in the company in a very short period, based on demonstrated performance.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:

Essential:

- Hands-on leader and developer of innovative software engineers/programmers and first-line managers

- Has a record of successful delivery of software products/components as an individual, team leader and/or development manager (Has grown through the ranks in software engineering function)

- Has a track-record of building software organizations and leading from the front, interacting with Business Management, Field Leaders and demanding Customers.

- About 12+ years of industry experience, managing a team of at least 30 software professionals, including managers, project leaders, software architects/designers. At least 5 years of experience as people manager, aspiring to grow in the managerial career path in software delivery.

- Worked in an Indian or global company that delivers high quality systems integrating software with electronics and/or mechanical systems. Has demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional project teams.

- Has deep appreciation for technology evolution and modern software engineering practices, quality assurance, testing, configuration & release management, defect management, and associated tools, deployed in world-class software creation processes

- Can actively contribute to problem-solving, triaging and resolving defects with engineers in the team

- Is willing to coach/mentor for upcoming leaders in software engineering function.

Desirable and Optional:

- Deep experience with Microsoft Development Environment (specifically C#)

- Educational background in computer or electrical science/engineering, preferably from a premier engineering school

- Experience of interacting with end-customers, trouble-shooting field problems with products.

- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming

- Experience with both Windows & Linux development

- Experience with Embedded Software Development

- Experience in developing multi-threaded applications/distributed systems

- Experience in Network Programming (Sockets)

- Experience with DirectX/OpenGL

- Experience in developing image/video processing applications

- Experience in developing real-time video streaming/video conferencing applications

- Experience with Android Development
