Director - Engineering - Financial Technology Firm

Intro to the Profile

To support our rapid growth, we are looking for talented, motivated individuals/leaders to join our office in Chandigarh with an extensive background and experience in leading delivery of robust and scalable enterprise solutions. This is a senior leadership role reporting to the VP, Engineering and Head of India Development Center and will be responsible for delivery of Engineering solutions with a focus on consistency, scale, quality and operational excellence.

The Director, Engineering will lead a team of 60+ highly motivated software Product engineering team through project initiation, execution, and deployment phases of the software delivery lifecycle.

This delivery leadership role is responsible for team development and their progressions, collaboration across various external and internal teams in US and India.

Directing work assignments, portfolio roadmaps, influencing the balance of scope-budget-timelines, strategic planning, and demonstrating agile expertise with functional-technical-operational processes are some of the other key capabilities for this role.

You will be expected to understand the ongoing requirements of our business units and will help evolve our overall Engineering ecosystem to support new tools and design shifts that enable the business to be successful in a high-growth environment.

Responsibilities:

Technical

- Lead delivery of engineering solutions from product conception to launch involving a variety of technologies including but not limited to Core Java, Hibernate, Spring, AWS, MySQL, Oracle, No-SQL, Angular, Bootstrap, Apache CXF, Apache Lucene, Web Services (REST AND SOAP), AJAX, Dimension modeling, machine learning, data analytics etc. and ensure that the implemented solutions align with and support business strategies and requirements.

- Collaborate with architecture, engineering, quality, support, experience, program, and infrastructure partners in coordinating delivery of objectives.

- Look for opportunities to optimize engineering processes and frameworks that are followed for delivering solutions in an effort to increase productivity and reduce time to market.

- Stay updated of new technologies and of changes in technologies that affect back-end and front-end web development

- Deliver on all aspects of Project Management (Plan, Prioritizes, Review, assess and mitigate risks, Deliver on time with right quality and health)

Management

- Accountability for team integrity, product excellence, decision-making, delivery estimates and roadmaps, career development, client communications, and project outcomes.

- Foster, facilitate, and furnish, timely decision-making across a broad network of stakeholders, delivery partners, and operational teams.

- Represent and lead diverse delivery functions in program/project core team and executive committee meetings.

- Build, manage, multiply, coach and develop a team of outstanding individuals providing software development of Engineering.

- Build strong relationships with key business stakeholders across multiple business units and be their trusted advisor.

- Help management establish and enforce team processes and standards.

- Manage escalations on delivery issues with stakeholders

Skills & Qualifications Required:

 - Should have scored 70% & above in 10th & 12th grade.

- A Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related software engineering discipline, or equivalent

- 15+ years in solution delivery, architecture, and people management.

- Strong self-driven individual who can lead in a fast paced complex environment, demonstrate problem solving skills in varied situations and take decisions taking all stakeholders along.

- Thought leadership, curiosity of business and engineering processes and drive to keep in pace with the new and emerging trends, technologies and innovations.

- Ability to manage partnerships with all areas and members of the business as well as all levels of the organization.

- Excellent spoken and written communication with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences.

- Ability to lead from the front, willingness to be hands-on to get down and work with team to understand and resolve problems.

Good to have:

- Experience building or managing distributed systems.

- Knowledge of data analytics and machine learning.

- Experience in the Fintech domain.

- Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
