Description - As a Director of Engineering, you will be working in close collaboration with data scientists, product managers, designers, and UX researchers, to build the future of the online education industry. Someone who can roll up sleeves and get the code done if needed, will be extremely successful in this position.

Our client is one of the flagship firms in Education Technology space. With a multinational presence across US, EU & India, their consumer products have close to 4.5 mi active subscribers along with 150 MAUs. India Development centre in taking the lead for their flagship products and contributing to almost 80% of the overall revenue for the company.

Description : 

Reporting to India Head of Engineering, your responsibilities will be as follows:

- Lead an incredible team of talented managers and engineers to develop product features, tackle challenging engineering problems and deliver projects on-time

- Mentor, coach, and foster career growth for respective product teams

- Collaborate with cross geographical business teams, product leaders, designers and QA to develop plans for developing and shipping projects / features

- Collaborate with teams disbursed in multiple locations and cohesively build out the products

- Participate in software design/architecture, risk mitigation/assessments, and capacity planning

- Improve team processes to increase effectiveness, improve product quality, and enhance work/life balance

- Own end-to-end availability/reliability and performance of Learning services products

- Establish feature release cadence and engineering roadmaps for learning services products

- Be hands-on and willing to roll up your sleeves to support the team as needed

Profile: 

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent

- 15+ years of software development including 4+ years of hands-on technical management experience

- Strong knowledge of agile and dev-ops practices, distributed systems and complex data pipelines

- Proven track record of managing team(s) of engineers, including coaching and mentoring, 1:1s, and performance reviews

- Ability to problem solve effectively using analytical and critical thinking skills

- Ability to assist team(s) within and outside of engineering, in delivering exceptional outcomes

- Excellent communication skills, a team player and proficient at handling multiple tasks across disciplines

- Highly skilled at developing and debugging in Java and at least 1 of the following: PHP, Ruby or JavaScript

- Hands-on experience with Cloud technologies and containers

- Experience with Third Party API integrations

- Track record of building for the future and thinking ahead
