Director - Data Analytics - US Healthcare
Location: Chennai
- The Director of Data Analytics will be responsible for the leadership and management of Optum's Chennai-based Data Analytics teams, who are responsible for data processing, problem solving, and insight generation on healthcare data sets.
- This individual will play a very critical role in building and maintaining trusted partnerships with US leadership, understanding business strategy, and coaching Chennai-based leaders to build Analytics expertise to solve client problems.
- He or she will be responsible for ensuring the Chennai Data Analytics teams deliver high quality results to Optum clients (typically US-based hospitals and health systems) and also for teams- performance, engagement, and professional development.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Partner with US senior leadership, understand the vision, strategy, and goals, and cascade them down to Chennai leaders, supporting them to execute
- Coach Data Analytics teams to enhance their data analytical capabilities and support them to solve client problems
- Support Chennai leaders to build a mature operating model for Data Analytics organization by adopting industry best practices
- Support teams to perform analysis, develop data solutions, build models, interpret results, develop actionable insights, and present recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders
- Closely work with Chennai leaders and ensure teams deliver results to our clients, with an emphasis on speed and data quality
- Serve as a final escalation point for Chennai Data Analytics team and support team to resolve escalated client and business issues on a timely basis
- Manage large technical and techno-functional analyst teams at different levels, including coaching and mentoring managers
- Include staff in decision-making process, empower staff to make decisions independently, and foster culture of ownership and accountability
- Guide and inspire teams through technical, operational, and industry change including the planning and executing of the necessary skill-building to transition from traditional database structures to a big data platform
Basic Qualifications:
- MBA, or other Master's degree with Mathematics major, preferably from a US university
- 12+ years of strong experience in Data Analytics, business stakeholder management, team management, and Operations management
- Experience with global teams across multiple time zones
- Strong Business management experience and a history of building trusted partnerships with senior leaders, preferably with US-based leaders
- Healthcare Data Analytics experience, including deep understanding of typical data sets in the US healthcare delivery system (ex. HL7, EMR, claims, etc) and a high level understanding of the strategic and operational issues facing US hospital and health system executives
- Proven Data Analytics leadership with examples of consistently high quality, on-time, cost effective delivery, including experience managing a team specializing in healthcare data
- Exposure to building predictive and prescriptive analytic models
- Ability to interact, communicate, present, and influence within multiple levels of the organization
- Willingness to accept and lead change, including new ideas and processes; Excitement about challenging the status-quo and driving creativity, innovation, and operational excellence
- 5+ years of professional experience managing a large team(s), collaboratively engaging teams, and helping them to grow.
