Job Title- Director - Cloud Platform Engineering / Cloud Services

Role Description

Reporting to the Head of Cloud Engineering Services, you will be responsible for running our Platform Engineering function. The role requires broad Engineering, Thought and People leadership to convert our Cloud vision into reality.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of delivering and running a Cloud Platform Engineering function within a Financial Services organization and is not only an excellent engineer but acts as a role model for our Global Engineering teams. We are looking for an experienced, dynamic individual with excellent communication skills who can not only lead the Engineering function but can interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Your key responsibilities

- Own the Cloud Platform Engineering function including shaping the culture, work ethic and expectations of the individuals within this function

- Provide Engineering Leadership and act as a Subject Matter Expert on all Cloud Platform Engineering Topics

- Ensure the team are delivering against the right priorities

- Day to day line management of several senior direct reports

- Collaborate with and represent this function on forums across the Bank

- Forge relationships at senior levels with stakeholders across other functional areas such as Group Architecture, CSO, the Cloud Program, CIO teams etc.

- Accountable for ensuring that all deliverables comply with Regulatory and Risk Control frameworks

- Maintain overall industry knowledge on latest trends, technology, etc.

Your skills and experience

- Extensive experience of Cloud platform services and their infrastructure requirements

- Extensive experience working with Terraform, hashicorp, Sentinel, Infrastructure as code, and Prisma

- Experience running an Engineering function including managing people and a team across multiple geographies

- An understanding of modern Application design

- Experience in the latest automated testing methodologies and CI/CD processes, including but not limited to Github Actions

- Experience of SRE or similar reliability based operating models

- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

- Experience of engaging and interacting with senior Technology leaders across an enterprise

- Strong understanding of Enterprise Security concepts and trends

- Strong understanding of modern networks/networking designs and trends

- Experience of Agile project delivery methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban

- Experience of working in a Financial Services organization, familiar with Risk Control Frameworks and the Regulatory Regime the bank operates in
