Core Responsibilities: - Collaborates across the division to develop and communicate a comprehensive strategy that aligns future financial and product opportunities; creates and refines processes that will increase productivity and overall quality of the planning function - Provides overall strategic direction for financial goals including pre-season financial plans, in-season projections, open-to-buy management and new store budgets - Delivers/presents divisional top-down planning strategies and financial plans that support the Division goals, as required - Develops contingency plans based on customer learning's, current events, and shifts in consumer behavior into proactive strategy changes - Sets the direction and approves financially sound season/category plans based on research and analysis of data, appropriate interpretation of historical data, trend analysis, etc. - Reviews and provides overall direction on divisional OTB position and strategies; review actuals against plan, performing trend analysis/plans - Analyses and monitors merchandise planning MIS analytics based on actual sales, sales forecasts, company order parameters, inventory checks, forth coming events, replenishment needs etc. - Formulates and communicates the merchandise strategic plan to buying team for necessary execution - Discusses, decides and monitors the strategic plans around the following factors Financials Sales, Stock, OTB, Margins, Forward Cover etc. Order Quantity, Allocation, Replenishment etc. - Communicates the plans to buying team for necessary execution and ensures effective in-season management across stores/areas (stock balancing, markdown management, stock analysis, stock vs sales performance) - Reviews the merchandise plans on a periodic basis to ensure profit is maximized and maintained to reach target levels - Ensures optimum inventory levels are maintained for each brand/category, keeping in mind store requirements as well as working capital constraints - Oversees product buys and merchandise flow to maximize sales, buying capacity, discount thresholds and warehouse workflow - Manages and updates replenishment parameters by location, store volume group as needed within season, communicates with buying function regarding inventory/replenishment as needed - Ensures identification of obsolete/slow moving stock and obtain management approval on markdowns and product discounts to ensure stock is liquidated as per retail /brand/category guidelines - Analyses variance analysis reports of stocks and sales against budgeted figures; provides direction in identifying brand/category growth opportunities to minimize down trending business People Management: - Defines goals and key performance indicators for each member of the team and ensures effective implementation of the GMG's performance management process - Develops talent within the team by providing guidance, mentoring and coaching to achieve the defined goals - Drives a culture of feedback and coaching in the Business Unit by providing feedback on an ongoing basis, identifying development needs and coaching the employees on the areas of improvement
