Director (Campus)

We are looking out for a Director (Campus) for Mumbai Location.

Please note that the campus is not yet set.

- They would be setting up the Campus in the Western Suburbs in Mumbai. They are planning to go live with the campus in the second half of 2013 but they would want someone to join before that as this person at the Director level would be key member in terms of setting up the entire campus. which is into Education Industry.

Organizational Relationship:

a. Reporting Relationship: Role directly reporting to CEO, (Both functional and administrative)

b. Supervisory Relationship: All campus based departmental Heads.

Role Definition: (Broad Definition of roles)

- Director (Campus) will lead both academics and operations and work closely with central leadership of the institute. He/she will be responsible for whole academic lifecycle which includes generating applications, ensuring admissions, designing the courses, ensuring its efficient delivery and placements.

- Director (Campus) will also be responsible for the institute’s P&L, day-to-day operating activities, compliance with local and US legal and financial requirements including monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.

- This position will provide executive leadership and overall direction, with responsibilities for the operation of the campuses and for meeting growth and profitability goals through the proper management of the resources.

Role Responsibilities: (Detailed activities)

- Actively manages and builds our good reputation and trustworthy relations with customers, government and communities.

- Responsible for whole Academic Lifecycle.

- Works with the Institute/Country CEO, VP of HR, and heads of Marketing and Sales, and Placements to develop and implement short-term and long-term strategic plans that are consistent with the mission, vision and values of the Company.

- Develops a balanced scorecard for the operations under direct supervision.

- Responsible for the overall financial performance of the institute campuses. Reviews forecasts and proposes capital expenditures; approves budgets for the campuses.

- Provides sound business, managerial and financial guidance to subordinates in the conduct of their duties, and facilitates effective communication on a daily basis to reinforce teamwork and information sharing.

- Assures effective administration and management of the campuses through the application of management principles within established guidelines; ensures that operating internal controls are properly applied.

- Dispenses advice, guidance, direction and authorization to carry out major plans, standards and procedures consistent with established policies.

- Establishes and maintains an effective organizational structure so as to accomplish the objectives; establishes practices to ensure adequate management development and to provide for capable management succession.

- Works with the Institute Academic leaders to ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory regulations; amends existing academic policies/procedures as needed. Ensures that the Institute’s curriculum is relevant to local and national needs, recommends changes to academic management and develops an academic strategy for the institute.

- Following are the major areas of focus of the Director(Campus) position:

- Student Retention: effective management of the academic programs, support activities and resources.

- Quality Education: ensure quality of instruction through regular evaluations and audits on how the Institute campuses are meeting established objectives. Heavy focus on positive student satisfaction and graduation outcomes.

- Student Outcomes: oversee a job placement system that enables the employment process for our graduated students; maintain records and statistics on job placement.

- Campus Growth: create, implement and balance campus initiatives designed to increase new student enrollment.

- Financial Targets: effectively manage the Institute campus budgets to deliver annual budget and make efficient use of capital. Develop financial plans that are consistent with the operations’ goals and objectives; ensure that adequate safeguards and controls are in place to protect the company's assets; take adequate measures to ensure the safety of students, faculty and staff.

Educational Qualifications/Experience:

Qualifications (Academic / other):

Educational Qualifications: Having successfully led a first-class organization, ideally have been actively involved in business development, with experience of regional responsibility and / or overseas assignments.

Successful executive experience at the highest level, having worked in a large company, preferably a multinational company or have worked abroad. The candidate must fully understand the business models structured, and the following concepts:

- Value Creation

- Implementation and development of short and long term strategies

- Holistic business understanding

- Ability to relate to ministries, regulatory agencies, Bank Senior Management, Senior Management / Industry Owners.

- Have been directly responsible for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Profit and Loss (P&L).

- Preference for a background in consumer services, hospitality or education. Fashion/Retail/Design exposure

Other important attributes:

Hands on.

- Humble enough to ask, to try to understand information and the environment, interacting with all levels of the Company.

- Excellent ability to work with teams and create confidence links with the Company’s executives.

- Excellent interpersonal skills.

Technical: Ms-Office, Emails

Experience: 10+ years of experience running or managing a small to mid size operation, or a business unit within a large organization. Prior experience in consulting, banking or strategy a plus.
