Director/AVP - Information Systems for Clinical Solutions
Reports to: VP Technology
Position Overview: The Software Development Director is responsible for leading and coordinating software development and maintenance activities and personnel throughout the product development lifecycle. The ideal candidate has a strong passion for software technology, an ability to directly contribute to product development, and possesses previous experience delivering highly reliable, scalable enterprise class software applications.
Responsibilities
- Leadership of software development activities throughout the product development lifecycle for the IKS CARE Offerings
- Transform high-level strategic product direction into tactical product direction
- Effectively propose and manage schedules as well as resources
- Coordinate and coach development teams with a focus on collaboration, automation, and testing
- Assist in architecting and designing solutions based on strong knowledge of the technologies involved
- Contribute to development, and review of product requirements documents, and functional specifications
- Track progress, communicate risks and escalate concerns in a timely manner
- Establish software development practices and standards
- Build outcomes oriented development teams through clear expectations and objectives management, coaching, career development, and smart recruiting
- Responsible for responding to technical RFPs/ RFIs pertaining to the software being developed
- Work closely with Design & D team to design components/apps/API's etc. to automate key workflows and activities in new offerings
- Identify and build adaptors for key EHR platforms
- Drive development (build or buy) & deployment of platforms to deliver measurable improvements in quality, cost, productivity of major service lines
- Other duties as assigned
Experience, Knowledge, Skills/competencies required (what is expected to be achieved to meet organizational goals)
- 10 plus years- experience in software development and delivery of complex distributed enterprise applications with at-least 3 plus years- experience developing solutions for clinical operations.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on application development experience using Microsoft Technologies.
- Experience with full software development lifecycle including but not limited to waterfall, Agile and Scrum development practices
- Experience working with existing software and enhancing it using incremental design and development strategies.
- Solid US Healthcare knowledge and experience would be preferred.
- Passion for engineering excellence through unit testing, and process improvement.
- Experience in managing multiple projects/products at different stages of the lifecycle concurrently with ability to drive outcomes across.
- Experience in producing detailed project schedules, resource requirements and tracking to schedule.
- Analytical Skills with ability to truly understand the full scope and impact of the project requirements
- Knowledge and experience in projects involving interfacing of healthcare data and application (HL7, CCD, etc.) is a must.
- Experience in Requirements Gathering & Documentation, Risk & Issue Management
- Project Reporting, Ability to present to Customers & manage Customer relationships
- Proven delivery of successful enterprise products
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment managing changing priorities
- Excellent problem solving demonstrating high level of creativity and innovation
- Excellent leadership and management skills including: expectations and objectives management, decision-making, delegation, empowerment, coaching, and delegation.
- Strong teaming skills including the ability to lead and be a team player
- Ability to communicate in concise written and verbal manners which are easily understood by a variety of audiences: technical, non-technical, and executive.
