Legal Director - Accounting & Reporting (US & India) - LPO Our client is a technology and legal services company - LPO Position : Director - Accounting & Reporting (US & India) Exp : CA with 8+ Years of Post Qualification Experience with knowledge of US GAAP. CTC : 30 - 35 Lakhs OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB : - This position is responsible for leading the Company's global "record-to-report" function. The position will direct an international team, including multiple direct reports, to ensure the Company's monthly results of operations, financial position and cash flow are timely, complete, and accurate. - The role will also have significant interaction with other functional groups including Global Treasury, Financial Planning and Analysis, Global Tax, Legal and HR. - This position will also play a large role in various special projects, on an as-needed basis. We are a growing global professional services firm doing business through 30+ legal entities in 20+ countries. - This leadership role will require knowledge of best-in-class processes and the ability to enact process improvement while fostering a team environment. - The candidate should have an ability to document policies and procedures, as well as to organize the team to cover the Company's key record-to-report function : cash and intercompany, capital assets, G/L, consolidation accounting and external reporting. - The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of US GAAP and familiarity leveraging large global ERP and financial systems (Oracle preferred). - Additionally, the position will work hand-in-hand with the VP, Global Controller, the Chief Accounting Officer, and other external resources on technical accounting and policy matters to deliver accounting position file memos to document key or sensitive accounting decisions (white papers). - The role will interact with external advisors and auditors, as necessary, to ensure that the Company maintains all external reporting requirements. - The successful candidate will have significant finance and accounting experience, be team-focused, have a strong work ethic and operate using a continuous improvement approach. - Must be willing to dig into the details and foster a culture of continuous learning and development for staff. - Must be a team player with strong leadership, communication and organizational skills. REQUIREMENTS : - Minimum of eight years relevant experience garnered through a mix of both public accounting/industry (public accounting a must, preferably with a Big 4 firm) or significant management experience running global accounting operations as a service provider. - Comprehensive knowledge internal control governance requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or a related quantitative field, or equivalent combination of education and experience (MBA a plus) COMPETENCIES : - Strategic thinker who can drive change - Superior analytical and problem-solving skills - Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills RESPONSIBILITIES : Record-to-Report : - Oversee the monthly close process and GL team; own the closing checklist to ensure all identified activities are prepared and reviewed in accordance with the Company's risk-based closing approach; review and approval of selected items - Oversee the monthly global consolidation process; improve reporting process and quality of information - Work with Global Financial Reporting and Control Managers for the various business geographies to ensure all transactions are appropriately identified and properly accounted for on a monthly basis - Responsible for certifying the completeness and accuracy of the monthly global trial balance - Interfacing with the other finance team members and business leadership to ensure compliance with GAAP, including appropriate revenue recognition under ASC 606 - Working with external service providers on the application of technical GAAP and/or accounting policies; authoring or co-authoring Accounting Position File Memos documenting the company's position regarding judgmental, sensitive or material contracts and/or accounting items - Responsible for the preparation, review and approval of all inputs into the company's external reporting financial statements and related bank covenant compliance package - Assist in the implementation of new GAAP and associated policy updates (revenue recognition, leasing, etc.) - Ultimate owner of the global chart of accounts, approval of new accounts and documentation regarding the usage - Drive process improvement changes necessary to achieve a best-in-class global process Other : - Lead and execute various projects and initiatives as defined - In addition to the above, the position shall be responsible for other duties and assignments, as requested, from time to time, by the Global Controller, Chief Accounting Officer, and CFO.
