Job Title : IT Business Partner

Reports To : Head - IT

Context/Scope :

About USL :

- USL is the leading spirits company in India, with net sales of Rs.979 billion and total volumes of 120.7 million 9-litre cases (largest spirits company globally by volume).

- It has a market leading brand portfolio in India with 140 brands of which 22 are - Millionaire Brands(selling more than a million cases a year).

USL employs more than 6,500 people.

- Diageo has acquired 54.8% of the issued share capital of USL and is currently integrating its pre-existing Diageo India business with USL. USL's 140 brands have been strengthened by the addition of Diageo's international brands (eg Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Ciroc)

Functional Support :

- The IT Business Partner has responsibility for providing excellent and pro-active support to respective functions from a technology point.

- The IT Business Partner will be responsible both leading development of and implementing a wide variety of relevant technology solutions and is expected to have deep knowledge of the business functions, to be able deploy & manage the relevant IT applications. He/She would be responsible for Managing of Business Application development, testing, deployment, roll-out & support to end-users across United Spirits, with the employees and consultants under him/her.

- He/She should constantly strive to improve the effectiveness of IT applications, resulting into increase in performance of the business processes. He/She is primarily expected to ensure extremely smooth functioning of all the IT applications managed by him/her.

- The person should be able to display business partnering traits, whereby he/she bridges the gap between technology and business need. He/She should be able to inspire confidence among the Business Users, and in turn the business users should deem him/her as a very dependable member of their team

- The IT Business Partner should be able to lead the team of employees and consultants diligently towards effective project & service delivery to the business. Rigor in terms of project execution, vendor management, process hygiene are deemed to essential to this role

- The Candidate should be conversant with managing IT budgets and spends. He/She should be able to focus on driving the cost of delivery/service continuously.

- Ability to carry out evaluations / analysis / reviews are vital for the project and service deliveries to the business.

- Ability to display leadership in terms of Customer Focus, Accountability, Bias for Action, Team & Talent Building are very crucial to role

- Be an ambassador for driving achievement of Ambition outcome of - Transformed reputation in every market through, enduring stakeholder partnerships and exemplary conduct-

- Drive the creation, embedding of great governance, effective compliance and risk management across the USL, including pro-active input into preventative actions to address key business risks, managing issues to mitigate impact and risk by early involvement, guiding resolution of issues and proactively creating an environment where risk is avoided, and embedding practices which drive holistic performance to protect and maintain reputation

- Ensure risk mitigation & fit-for-purpose agreements. Ensure that the right people with the right capabilities are in place to deliver our Ambition. Cultivate talent in the team to create a super-engaged function, committed to personal growth and capability building, aligned behind / accountable for business performance (Must Dos) and demonstrating the Behaviours in pursuit of enabling our Ambition

- Champion the embedding of a compliance culture within USL.

Leadership Responsibilities :

- Be an inspirational legal leader to the Senior Legal Counsels and other direct reports and a Para-Legal acting as a great coach and supporting all lawyers in the function and also cross-functionally in raising the capabilities and awareness of USL's critical functions when dealing with vendors and managing government officials.

- Being authentic - Standing up for what you feel is right and important; demonstrating high integrity and being honest and open at all times.

- Effectively building trusting relationships and motivating others to achieve common objectives.

Purpose of Role :

- IT Business Partner has overall responsibility for the provision of excellent and pro-active support to respective functions and also providing pragmatic advice to the leadership.

Top Accountabilities :

- Instill confidence in respective functional leaders delivering pragmatic and proportionate advice and support to complex issues towards technology solutions.

- Review the capabilities of external vendors and seek to rationalize in order to ensure high quality maintenance, service and cost savings.

- Leadership of programme of training to build knowledge and competency and champion the technology areas across supported functions

- Lead the provision of technology advice to the functional leaders and their team

Qualifications and Experience Required :

- An MBA (preferably with a BE/B.Tech) from a reputed institute with a minimum of 12 - 18 years of working experience in IT / Business. Relaxation of educational qualifications can be made in exceptional cases).

- The candidate should have a deep understanding / experience of business processes in a mid/large Indian company, in terms of hands-on working or deploying IT solutions for the business processes.

- The candidates should be able to analyze Information and Technology needs from a Strategic and Operational perspective, in any business scenario. He/She should be able to translate requirements into system designs and applications.

- The candidate should also be able to translate the requirements into system resources, as well as human resources requirements. Ability to do Project Management, Planning, Estimation and Tracking are essential.

- A Global Mindset to keep himself/herself abreast of the latest developments in Technology is deemed to be essential. Innovative application of the Technological advances to provide competitive edge would be desired in this role.

- Exposure to established ERP / CRM would get better consideration in addition to developed applications. Strong skills on Presentations and Data Analysis using advanced tools like MS-Visio, MS-Project, in addition to MS-Office are deemed necessary.

- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, common business periodicals, financial reports and documents. Proficiency to effectively present information and respond to queries of senior management, business counterparts and cross functional teams are essential.

- Should also have very good expertise to deal with numbers and business data and apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of business and practical problems.

- The candidate should be capable of handling a large set of users (around 50 ~ 300 users). He/She should also be able to manage a team of systems officers and consultants from Multiple Vendors to deliver the projects / services.

- There could be frequent travel involved to different locations in India Line management experience of mid and junior level lawyers and evidence of pro-active coaching and support to these employees

Barriers to Success in Role :

- Inability to influence key stakeholders.

- Inability to manage their time and prioritize effectively

- Inability to analyse complex data, draw connections and advocate a coherent strategy for improvement

- Viewing line management and coaching as a low priority

Flexible Working options : Some travel within India
