We are looking for a GM Manufacturing operations for a MNC hydraulic company HQ in USA . The co has added to its initial manufacturing capacity in Beulaville, NC, USA (established 1997) and Cramlington, UK (established 1968) with an additional US facility in Wallace, NC and a plant in Gummidipoondi Chennai, India (start-up mid-2007).

The company manufactures hydraulic cylinders for the overseas market.

Location base : Gummidipoondi Chennai

- Only Tamil speaking Chennai locals required. Tamil speaking guys from other locations who wish to return to the base station are also ok

No of yrs required 18 – 25 yrs

- Salary range is 30 lakhs upwards ideally 30 – 40 lakh range

- Work day week is 6 days a week

- Co transport facility to and fro is available.

Roles and responsibilities

- The DGM Operations is responsible for managing all hands-on operational aspects of the company.

- This role collaborates with the President & CEO to develop corporate and operational strategies, and is charged with facilitating these efforts across Operations.

- Through a respectful, constructive and energetic style, guided by the objectives of the co, he provides the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency. The DGM Operations oversees quality assurance, production planning activities.

- Manages, directs and coordinates the manufacturing efforts of the entire Indian operations in a 5000 Sq. mts. facility which could be expanded to 10000 Sq. mts.

- Assures design integrity and quality of products manufactured (raw material to fabrication & machining, assembly, testing, packaging/shipping, and field installations, if necessary), and timely completion in line with management’s direction and overall business strategy. Interfaces with sales, procurement, engineering, operations and customers, as necessary. Develop & monitor monthly reports that summarize production volumes, quality issues, resource utilization, schedules and machinery OEE and on time deliveries.

Major Job Responsibilities

1. Coordinates the efforts of the following areas:

2. Planning and scheduling of the fabrication and machining effectively.

3. Responsible for the execution of manufacturing schedules, dispatch on sales requirements and plant capacity.

4. Develops and implements manufacturing processes to achieve corporate objectives for a world class product in accordance with Global Standards.

5. Controls quality, cost of production, inventory, receiving and shipping through appropriate subordinates.

6. Confers with subordinates and other plant personnel on the application of methods and production standards and adherence to equipment maintenance and safety programs. Reviews all recommendations for special machinery and works closely with product and processes.

7. Determines plant policies consistent with company policies, directs and supervises the application of such policies to the plants’ operations and assembly/testing operations.

8. Coordinates long-range plant expansion and equipment planning.

9. Oversees the maintenance of buildings and equipment and plant security and protections.

10. Implement and maintain an employee review/measurement mechanism.

11. Establish and implement procedures for the identification, awareness, disposition and corrective action of quality issues across all departments and suppliers.

12. Evolves a career growth plan for employees.

13. Oversee special projects and other duties in alignment with management objectives.
Skills

Job Skills Required

- Significant years of experience in a modern heavy manufacturing set up.

- Experience in precision assembly of heavy machinery, preferably rotating

- Experience in managing a team of highly skilled welders, fitters and machinists and automated CAD CAM operators.

- Knowledge of performance testing,.

- Understanding of employment laws, safety codes and environmental standards.

- Global exposure and experience from MNCs or US companies.
