Development Manager - Manufacturing/Textile

Purpose of the role

Independently lead a new category and undertake innovation project ensuring delivery of all technical and quality components required. Ensure end to end delivery of product from laboratory to commercial launch. The incumbent needs to own the process end to end until managed/transferred to manufacturing, category, brand, claim substantiation, regulatory, procurement supply chain including supply management, legal etc. to ensure successful product launch. Identification of Business Trends and Strategic Planning to deliver sustainable growth for the Category

Key Result Areas

Market Research:

- Explore & manage industrial research

- Regular consumer interaction, finding out the need gap and expected product attributes, converting the need gaps into a product

- Regular market surveys to keep abreast of competitive environment in terms of pricing, product introductions and new launches

- Conduct research in relation to ingredients, technology, packaging & product analysis, current trends in the market & competitive analysis of existing brands

Product Development:

- Develop novel technologies, differentiated & efficient formulation using disruptive solutions and capabilities for the category

- Identification and screening of suitable technology providers, vendors for technology transfer and to partner product development, followed by Project Management involving defining product parameters, timelines, milestones and gate clearances

- Define tentative cost & MRP, prepare cost analysis sheet to get understanding on each products margin

- Ensure formulation is designed as per defined parameter in the market research

- Timely delivery of the product as per defined timeline

- Ensuring the quality of the product being manufactured is compliant to the quality detailed in the product quality docket during the innovation transfer

- To work closely with the vendors to identify new sources of supply of product needs and raw materials

Project Management/Project Administration

- Driving compliance and delivery of documentations with respect to project management and technical areas such as specification freeze, formulation locks, stability assessments, claims dockets etc. Ensure that the new formulation does not infringe upon any patent and is also regulatory

- Sign off on Product Development and Technology transfer documents of developed products to authorize commercial production

- Responsible for financial and scheduled performance of assigned projects to ensure projects are conducted within cost limitations and meet established standards and timelines

- Delivery of category's yearly plan in terms of budget and resource allocation across the skincare /allied project portfolio
