Deputy Manager - Legal - FMCG

Specialization: Indirect Taxes - Excise, Customs, Service Tax and VAT, etc.

Qualification:

Commerce Graduate & LL.B, with minimum 5 years post qualification experience in manufacturing sector and/or Indirect Tax consulting/law firm. CA/CS/ICWA qualification will be added advantage.

Post qualification experience:05 years+

Industry preferred: Manufacturing, FMCG, Others

Purpose of Job

Act as SME for Indirect Tax laws as part of corporate legal team.

Outcomes

1. Assist compliance with Indirect tax provisions

2. In-house Counsel for Indirect Tax litigations & advisory

Key Responsibilities of the Position

- In-house drafting of replies/appeals and appearance before various adjudicating and appellate authorities.

- Assist timely communication and smooth implementation of any indirect tax law changes with impact on the organization

- Assist in handling indirect tax enquiries, notices, assessments & litigation proceedings

- Assist preparation of advice on Excise classification, valuation, and applicability of Indirect taxes on transactions, Cenvat Credit, ISD issues and admissibility to Indirect tax benefits/exemptions.

- Coordinating with tax authorities for procedural and tax compliance matters.

- Assist Business units during CERA and EA 2000 Audits, critical investigations, if any, initiated by DRI/ DGCEI/ SVB/Anti-Evasion wings of Excise/ Service Tax/ VAT

- Active participation in GST implementation

Skill set:

- Knowledge and experience of working in ERP environment

- Good drafting and interpretational skills is a must.

- Good Indirect tax legal research skills.

- Good presentation skills.
