Job Description

Role: DGM - Strategy & Innovation

Reporting: Principlal / VP - Group Strategy and Innovation

Location: Mumbai (with regular travel to Ahmedabad, additional travel nationally / internationally as required)

Responsibilities: You will be a leader in the Strategy and Innovation team for the Group, initially focusing on the Energy Vertical with the objective of creating and delivering strategy and innovation that materially impacts our energy business results, working with business CEOs and their teams, and the Group Chairman's office.

Key responsibilities include:

- Strategic planning: Creating strategic plan for energy vertical taking into market conditions and business requirements. Build a global strategic plan for the next horizon of growth for energy businesses

- Deploying strategy: Monitoring and supporting deployment of 3-5 year strategic plan agreed with business CEOs and Group Chairman - including resource monitoring, program management, supporting and filling key deployment gaps

- Initiating and executing strategic initiatives: Executing critical margin, cost and business transformation initiatives - in line with strategy deployment and key strategic focus areas identified

- New business development within energy vertical: Evaluating new business opportunities and incubating them (new business models, new technologies, monetization through data analytics)

- Inorganic growth: Evaluate and manage inorganic pipeline to support execution of strategy

- Innovation: Embedding innovation across the energy vertical to improve key business and operational outcomes. Building the innovation system that can be used across the Group going forward

- Partnering with Technology and Analytics teams: Partner with technology and analytics teams to build business case and proof of concepts to improve margin and drive operational efficiency

- CVC and Incubation: Creating and managing CVC and Incubator assets for the Group, to pilot and scale-up new technologies and business models using external vendors, start-ups and partners

As a leader within this team, you would be expected to carry out the following activities:

- Develop business strategy for the Energy vertical businesses and play a key role in executing strategic projects to support the deployment and execution of this strategy

- Be a thought partner to Business CEOs as they chart their long term growth plans and build their internal capability for delivery of these plans

- Identify and evaluate new and improved business models that impact the group's current & future strategy

- Provide program management oversight for as well as support execution of strategy deployment across the energy business verticals

- Maintain an ongoing scan of external (national and international) inorganic opportunities in line with business strategy developed

- Lead critical strategic initiatives / projects delivering agreed revenue, cost or margin impact for energy businesses

- New business development, leveraging innovation, new technology and analytics, which impact the group's current & future strategy, initially with a focus on energy

- Recruit and build strong team of high performing individuals that can deliver real impact

- Be a mentor and inspirational leader for your direct team and other team members of the energy business vertical

Profile: Potential candidate for the position would be expected to have:

Desired competencies

- Experience in navigating large and complex organizations, including interacting with C-level executives and stakeholders and successfully managing senior relationships

- Ability to identify strategic needs, lead all aspects of strategy with sound business recommendations, and generate alignment with key business partners

- Ability to manage multiple business initiatives in an entrepreneurial environment with limited structure and guidance

- Track record of experience managing and mentoring with high integrity and the ability to inspire others

- Strong analytical and financial capabilities with experience in strategy consulting, M&A, fundraising, investing and conducting due-diligences

Strong Leadership skills

- Creativity and imagination - ability to connect the dots where others cannot

- Excellent communication and presentation skills to be able to inspire confidence in both internal and external stakeholders

Desired professional experience

- Required: 5+ years experience in Tier 1 Strategy Consulting firms

- Managed teams for 1+ years

- Proven track record in strategy, innovation and business development

- Preferred: Experience in the energy sector and/or companies with deep understanding of latest trends and ongoing developments in the sector

Educational experience

- Masters in Business Administration from a reputed institute

- Preferred: Bachelors in Engineering or Economics from a reputed university
