Super Urgent Requirement of Dean Academics @ Ahamdabad


Overall purpose of job:

- The Dean shall preside over the Institute and its divisions comprised of a cluster of disciplines or disciplinary Specialties, such as arts and sciences, engineering, fine arts, business, natural sciences, education and health sciences.

- The College Dean is responsible for, but not limited to, academic planning, enhancement of programs, curriculum, teaching, scholarship and service, professional and regional accreditation, recruitment of faculty, faculty development and evaluation, student recruitment, advising, budget development, and allocation of resources.

Main activities/tasks

For the Institute:

- Provide leadership in a broad range of institutional discussions and decision making, to maintain perspective on the entire range of education and research on our worldclass diverse campus, including different kinds of service, different academic programs and externally and internally supported research.

- Foster an institutional attitude and department/College climate that promotes a collegial environment and excellence including engaging faculty, staff and students in discussions of all important collegiate issues and assuring a positive, high-quality working environment

- Represent and promote the College both internally and externally including fundraising, alumni relations, economic development, political priorities (federal and state) and public relations Raising private funds for scholarships, professorships, programs, facilities and other college needs, normally spending 40 percent of his time on such activities


- Implement academic policies established by the University and College.

- Request a budget for the college and departments with appropriate justification; once budget is approved, monitor and allocate funds from the budget.

- Be responsible for ensuring all accreditation criteria is being met for their programs and seeking out accreditation for new programs.

- Review and approve all College curricular requests and coordinate instruction, ensuring programs meet state and accreditation standards.

- Ensure completion of assessment for all curricular majors.

- Commit to and support the development of diversity on the campus.

- Demonstrate high participation in all levels of the assessment process. Monitor and distribute assessment data appropriately and use results in annual planning process.

- Ensure compliance with State and college or program-level accreditation standards as well as appropriate National regulations, where applicable.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Founder

Leadership:

- Provide leadership in the area of faculty development and professional growth.

- Develop Policies and Procedures

- Ensure orientation of all new faculty and adjunct faculty.

- Recommend faculty for promotion and continuing contract during probationary periods - encourage faculty grant writing and acquisition of external funds in coordination with the Founder Trustee

- Work with department chairs, recommend all part-time faculty to the Provost recommend all search and screen committee members

- Appoint highly effective human capital, staff and others who are direct reports, doing their performance evaluations, and assuring their accountability for high-level performance in areas appropriate to their positions.

- Supervise the activities of the department chairs and advise and mentor new department chairs.

- Ensure regular Department and College meetings.

- Ensure the completion of both the annual faculty performance evaluations and ensure orientation of all new faculty and adjunct faculty.

- Assist in the establishment of and support for the orderly and regular review of programs and curriculum.

- Maintain open, positive channels of communication with all college and University stakeholders.

- Collaborate with the curriculum committee, to develop and approve course offerings ensuring that the needs students are met.

- Foster the recruitment and retention of qualified students and provide leadership to students in academic endeavors and co-curricular activities.

- Ensure all students are advised and have a program of study.

- Respond to student academic concerns and seek resolution at the faculty level, ensuring that accurate records of these issues are kept in the Dean's office.

- Participate in the establishment of the vision, long-term and short-term planning documents and decision- making and assist with strategic planning for both the College and University. Convening strategic intellectual discussions about future academic directions of departments, centres, programs and the college itself

Special requirements:

Should have an experience of over 25 years as an academic and administrator and held several tenured faculty and administrative positions during his career.

Should have had interests including Marketing Strategy, Marketing Metrics, and Brand/Customer Management with focus on Business Model Innovations, especially in Services sector, B2B, Technology and Emerging Markets.

Be known for measuring the impact of market-facing business processes (innovation; entrepreneurship and customer management), that create value for customers, and the value of market-based assets (customers, channels, brands and value networks).

Should have interests in Strategic Performance Management, Marketing Accountability and Driving Growth and Economic Value.

Should have actively been involved in setting up several new postgraduate and doctoral programmes as well as research centers and initiatives in close collaboration with industry.

He should bring a unique blend of experiences integrating academic and business perspectives from the west and the east. He is committed to cross-functional integration in management of business processes and has championed inter-disciplinary research and academic programmes, and has nurtured multi-disciplinary areas of excellence in innovation and business analytics.

On behalf of the students and staff should create a functional and harmonious campus environment

Knowledge and skills:

- Using common computer programs, such as Microsoft Word and Excel and Learning Management Platforms.

Education, qualifications, and special training:

- MBA from a reputed University and Masters in Liberal Arts.

- Doctorate appropriate for the Institute.

Experience - 15 years of full time teaching experience at a University with some graduate teaching experience.

- Record of teaching, professional development/scholarly work, and service to warrant faculty rank of Professor

- Understanding of appropriate accreditation, preferably having national review experience.
