About the Role :

The Operations Practice Advanced Analytics CoC is seeking creative and curious Data Scientists to work with Client Service Teams (CSTs) globally, and engage in complex modeling and analytically focused strategies across a wide platform of projects, from network optimization to large-scale global transformation to predictive maintenance, and more. McKinsey's Operations Data Scientists work with data-driven teams by modeling and using data in creative ways, and apply problem solving to a growing number of client situations.

Responsibilities :

- Apply and advise on state-of-the-art advanced analytic and quantitative tools and modeling techniques in order to derive business insights and solve complex business problems

- Support, review and conduct complex analytics processes and data integration on clients- internal and external data

- Create value for clients and client service teams by understanding their needs and translating them into optimal desired analytical services

- Develop and disseminate innovative analytical techniques, processes, tools, etc.

- Problem solve with the client service/data science team to explore findings and insights from analysis

- Support knowledge development for the Firm's analytic group and help develop a roadmap for a greater understanding of analytics and its impact in the consulting population

- Partner with Data Engineers and client service team members to ensure timely and effective methods of the extraction, assembly and transfer of broad, complex sets of data

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications :

- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Math, Quantitative social sciences or related field

- 3-6 years years of deep technical experience in distributed computing, machine learning, and statistics related work

- Programming experience with R, Python and/or C/C++

- Proficiency in statistical data analysis and data mining packages SAS, SPSS, MATLAB, STATA, etc.

- Proven comfort and an intellectual curiosity for working with very large sets of data, pulling in relevant team members to address identified - and sometimes undiscovered - client needs

- Discernible communication skills, especially around breaking down complex structures into digestible and relevant points for a diverse set of clients and colleagues, at all levels

- High-value personal qualities including critical thinking and creative problem solving skills; an ability to influence and work in teams; resourcefulness; tenacity; independent thought leader; self-confident, etc.

- Desire to learn and develop, within a dynamic, self-led organization

- Strong command of English language (both verbal and written)

Preferred Qualifications :

- MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Math, Quantitative social sciences or related field

- 5+ years of deep technical experience in distributed computing, machine learning, and statistics related work

- Experience developing or designing large software systems
