DataScientist OR Behavioural Economist (Recommendation Engine Specialist)

We are building a social search and discovery app that will connect the worlds of streaming and cinemas, and to achieve this we are looking for an incredible Recommendation Engine Specialist.

The ideal candidate will take ownership of developing and enhancing a cutting-edge recommendation engine, leveraging insights from behavioural economics to create a personalised and emotionally resonant user experience. An advanced knowledge of mathematics, economics and modelling is required. You will also be responsible for data cleanup, analysis and visualisation. A keen interest in the intersection of human behaviour and decision-making is mandatory, as is a strong passion for film and TV.

As a Recommendation Engine Specialist you will :

1. Take full ownership of recommendation engine, ensuring its continuous improvement and adaptation to user preferences.

2. Collaborate with the engineering team to implement behavioural insights into the recommendation algorithms.

3. Apply principles from behavioural economics to understand and model user decision-making in the context of film and TV preferences.

4. Identify and incorporate relevant psychological and emotional factors into the recommendation system.

5. Conduct data analysis to derive actionable insights from user behaviour data.

6. Develop visualisations and dashboards to communicate findings effectively to cross-functional teams.

7. Design and implement experiments to test hypotheses about user behaviour.

8. Use A/B testing methodologies to validate the impact of changes to the recommendation system.

9. Work collaboratively with cross-cultural departments on ad-hoc projects requiring data expertise.

10. Contribute insights to marketing and product teams for culturally sensitive content recommendations.

11. Be required to deliver high-impact work with autonomy in a hybrid work setting.

Skills Wishlist :

1. Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Behavioral Economics, Economics, or a related field.

2. Proficiency in statistical analysis and mathematical modelling.

3. Experience with programming languages such as Python or R.

4. Experience with data visualisation tools.

5. Demonstrated understanding of behavioural economics principles and their application in real-world scenarios.

6. Proven experience in applying behavioural insights to improve algorithms or decision-making systems.

7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

8. Ability to derive actionable insights from complex datasets.
