Data Management Role - BFSI

Responsibilities

The person would be an integral part of Discussion Science unit and would act as the owner of the database. S/he would need to structure complex database systems and designing/developing analytical solutions. S/He should have expertise in analyzing large data sets, data warehousing, and mining techniques. Also should have skills in unstructured data analysis and machine learning techniques. Specifically, S/ he will be expected to perform the following roles:

Solving business problems by :

- Setting up and maintaining TB/GB+ size structure/unstructured database

- Performing data integration, manipulation, and querying for purposes of reporting and more sophisticated analytics

- Playing a significant role in team problem solving

- Act as owner of the database with the in-depth understanding of all files and fields.

- Should be able to understand the business requirements and marry it with the data structure.

- Manage and manipulate unstructured data (Social media, text, video, etc)

- Though leader with management on adopting new age data warehousing and machine learning techniques.

- Provide guidance and leadership to teams on analytics projects

- Provide data mining and analytical support on projects, including conducting analysis, building data-intensive models/tools, summarize and interpreting results

- Actively participate in building team's strategy on knowledge and capability development. Explores wider horizons both internally and externally to expand the service offerings of the team

- Data Visualization capabilities would be added plus

We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated both a strong business sense and high logical and programming skills

Skill Set Required

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions

- Strong programming skills in SQL Server, SAS, MS Access, VBA

- Strong knowledge of packages like SSIS and SSRS

- Knowledge of unstructured/ non-relational data. Has deep knowledge of Hadoop, PIG, HIVE.

- Demonstrated abilities to bring strong business sense to bear

- Ability to deal with ambiguity and ever-evolving client requirements

- Highly entrepreneurial and innovative mindset

- Experience in data manipulation and handling large datasets; Data extraction, data transformation (standardization, cleaning, data repair, matching, and de-duping) and refinement

- Experience in working with relational databases; ability to identify needed data elements to support reporting requests

- Supervising, mentoring, training and management of analysts within the team

- Good written and verbal communication skills. Fluent in both written and spoken English; prior experience in a multi-national environment desirable.

- Energetic, cooperative and pleasant personality. Able to work with and coach effectively a diverse group of team members

- Ability to work under pressure and deliver on tight deadlines

Education & Previous Experience Required

- Post-graduate OR Graduate degree in Computer Applications/Engineering/Mathematics (with strong quantitative background).

- 7-10 years experience in working with programming on SQL Reporting Services 2005/2008, PL/SQL (Oracle/MySQL) and T-SQL (MS SQL server), SAS (Base/Mainframe), JAVA, C++, .net etc

- Deep knowledge of HBase, Hadoop, HIVE, PIG, NOSQL,

- Hand on experience of managing structure & unstructured data
