Job Summary:

- The Business Data Steward will strategically and tactically manage business data related to an assigned functional area (e.g. Finance, Performance & Risk, Marketing, etc.) within Franklin Templeton while ensuring high levels of data quality, availability and privacy.

- This individual will be responsible for monitoring adherence to governance policies, procedures and processes, establishing consistent understanding of data definitions, and monitoring/auditing the overall data quality within their respective domains.

Job Duties/responsibilities:

Supports the data governance activities within a functional business area, specific activities include:

- Ensures data quality and data definition standards are developed and implemented

- Monitors overall data quality for assigned data elements

- Assists in defining and maintaining metadata and business rules

- Identifies and reports data quality issues, related to uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness in a timely fashion to the respective domain administrator

- Collaborates with different business groups to manage and resolve identified data quality issues

- Participates in projects needing to acquire or enhance data for respective business area

- Provides mediation and arbitration services between users or user groups in cases where there are disagreements or identified data issues within the domain of stewardship

- Constructs and maintains information flow diagrams relating to the stewarded data within the domain of stewardship

Supports Technology (FTT) and Global Data Governance (GDG) in enterprise level data governance, specific activities include:

- Supports FTT and GDG in their efforts to define, adopt, and execute data management processes

- Participates in regularly scheduled and ad hoc Data Community meetings, forums, work groups, and educational sessions

- Participates in training and meetings to facilitate the sharing of data across functional areas and understanding of stewardship best practices

- Provides subject matter expertise to the Data Governance Council to develop the Data Standards and Rules for Master Data

- Confirms that the enterprise data model accurately represents the data entity, its attributes and its relationship to other data entities when appropriate

Qualifications Requirements:

Education And Experience:

- A Bachelor's degree is required with seven to ten years applicable experience demonstrating increasing responsibilities

- Experience in Financial Services Industry is required

- Experience in Data Quality, Data Stewardship, and/or Data Management is required

- Higher education and/or certifications (or progress towards) relevant to the industry (i.e. CFA) is preferred

- Expertise in specific business domain (i.e. Performance & Risk, Marketing, Finance, etc.) is preferred

Licenses And Certifications:

- Industry related certifications (i.e. CFA), or progress towards, is preferred

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:

- Knowledge of financial markets and investment industry

- Understanding of assigned functional area and the data being managed, and its implications downstream to other systems, processes, and applications

- Knowledge of the business rules for functional area

- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills, in particular in English

- Communicate effectively with diverse people at various organization levels with right level of detail and cultural sensitivity

- Flexible and open to new ideas with the ability to understand things from corporate, regional and local perspective while maintaining customer focus

- Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment; self-motivated to work in an independent and collaborative mode

- Ability to build strong relationships with peers and leaders by building trust and credibility; strong collaboration skills

- Active listening skills to understand business needs and steer business team to take decisions that have enterprise-wide impact

- Effective meeting management skills

- Effectively influence a team of individuals without reporting authority to achieve goals and meet deadlines

- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel

- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Visio

- Knowledge of database functionality and SQL (Structured Query Language)

Problem Solving And decision Making:

- Ability to make independent decisions related to day to day job duties

Travel Requirements:

- Travel to the US required, upon hire and potentially thereafter, for training and collaboration with respective business domain
