Role Overview :

The Operations Practice Advanced Analytics CoC is in search of creative and curious Data Engineers / Operators to work with our Client Service Teams (CSTs) and clients to extract, transform and standardize data from complex, sometimes disparate client networks. Further, the Data Engineer will prepare data for new applications and/or analyses.

Detailed Description :

The Data Engineer - Operations will work through our clients- entire data ecosystem to understand what is available, what is missing - and where to find and collect that information. This role will implement and maintain effective projects around all elements of data engineering.

Specifically, we are looking for following core technical capabilities :

- Proven experience with the ETL process - extracting, transforming and loading large complex sets of data

- Easily understand complex algorithms and logic to process data

- Embrace the agile software development environment

- Able to design and develop relational databases for collecting and storing data, and build and design data input and data collection mechanisms

- Be responsible for server-based databases in development and test environments including database software installation, database creation, performance and capacity design, backup and recovery design, and security design

- Practice statistical data quality procedures and/or test driven approach for quality assurance; develop software ensuring proper data quality controls at all levels

- Experience with various data sources (eg ERP, MES, PLC, Sensor), data management tools (SQL, PL/SQL, UNIX shell scripting), Big Data platforms (Hadoop, hbase, CouchDB, Hive, Pig) and secure cloud environment (Azure, AWS, etc.)

- Worked with TeraData, Oracle, MySQL, Informatica, Tableu, QlikView or similar reporting and BI packages

- Proficiency in statistical data analysis and data mining packages Python, R, C/C++, etc.

- Knowledge of web application development technologies such as Ruby on Rails, Java, UNIX, HTML, CSS, Perl, or PHP

The successful candidate will have some, if not all of the following characteristics :

- Creative problem solving skills

- Strong grasp of data historian requirements with an ability to gauge quickly the gaps that exist in client data systems, while identifying the software and extraction routines needs

- Strong team player who can work independently and with others, including a growing group of Data Scientists

- Superb communications skills with the ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly to people at all levels verbally and in written format

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications :

- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Math, Quantitative social sciences or related field. MS preferred.

- 2-5 years of deep technical experience in distributed computing, data mining, machine learning, and ETL-related work

- Strong command of English language (both verbal and written)

Preferred qualifications :

- MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Math, Quantitative social sciences or related field

- 3+ years of deep technical experience in distributed computing, data mining, machine learning, and statistics related work
