Data Analyst
Job Description
We're looking for a highly strategic, detail-oriented data scientist to partner with our sales and marketing team; empowering them to optimize marketing performance and provide insights into how it impacts sales. They should be able to translate various forms of marketing data into compelling insights and visualizations; and have proven experience in executing strong analysis for marketing teams. This person will be equal parts proficient data scientist and analyst, articulate communicator/visualizer and conceptual thinker.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to complete detailed analysis, identify/communicate the findings into high-level recommendations
- Lead data-gathering and analysis efforts for the sales and marketing departments; leveraging a variety of analysis tools, always looking to extract actionable insights
- Translate business objectives and business problems into structured data-collection methodologies and ROI-driven findings.
- Work with cross-functional and cross-geographic teams to build reports, dashboards and interactive experiences to communicate large amounts of information to various marketing stakeholders
- Build predictive models, run scenarios and deliver insights that help the teams optimize online and offline marketing campaigns
- Reporting and analysis of demand, campaign, pipeline, web and other performance measures
- Design and execute detailed marketing campaign tests and launch response reporting, observe trends and make recommendations for potential improvements to online, email and digital campaigns; understanding differences between different types of customers
Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of experience with large data sets and marketing data analyses
- Experience with databases; for both querying and scripting (preferably MongoDB and PostgreSQL)
- Ability to utilize data from Google Analytics, Shopify, Facebook, Amazon, email marketing (MailChimp), other social media and other online marketing data sources to gather data and analyze marketing campaign performance
- Experience in data mining and predictive modeling methodologies, ideally with experience in applying them in online digital marketing.
- Experience with reporting platforms like Tableau; and advanced proficiency in Excel (Modeling, pivot tables, advanced formulas)
- Experience measuring offline campaigns and brand performance a strong plus
- Understand marketing and technology, and the interplay between them
- Curious, fast learner, fast to respond, fearless attitude.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the non-predictable pace of a start up
