What you need to do:

- Redefine how News is created and delivered to millions of users - all with different languages, tastes, interests, preferences and backgrounds.

- Own the creation of new high quality journalism & news content as well as translating / repurposing our current Hindi, Gujarati news content.

- Oversee a team of editors and writers to ensure that all content meets the highest journalistic standards and is delivered in a timely manner.

- Edit and review all content before publication to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to editorial standards after translation.

- Run daily planning & operations for the English Digital Editorial team and to stay ahead of the news cycle. Ensure we stay ahead of everyone else in terms of being the first to break news in each format, while maintaining high quality editorial standards.

- Try out multiple ideas and formats which are a creative mix of visual, video, audio and text elements, by collaborating with the Product & Video/Graphics team to figure out what works best for our users.

- Create engaging videos for all important news pieces

- Analyze content performance metrics and ensure the team leverages that completely during the Editorial planning process.

- Interact with users directly on a regular basis to understand and innovate on news needs better and build a similar culture within the team.

- Help manage, motivate, coach and build the best News team in India within 12 months.

Who you need to be:

1. Savvy with digital content production tools across all formats and processes to ensure all teams are able to stay in sync and work remotely across functions and locations.

2. Comfortable working directly with the Product, Data and Research teams to innovate on Digital News, with an in-depth understanding of how Digital News works.

3. Highly open minded in terms of trying out new ideas, mediums, formats to deliver the highest quality news to our users.

4. Have a deep understanding of video formats and production

5. Excellent editorial judgment and ability to identify stories that will resonate with DB readers

6. Ability to work fast, hit deadlines and multi-task

7. Have ~10 years of experience in mainstream English news, with 5 years in a Digital newsroom.

8. An extremely good manager who can manage a team of more than 50 people efficiently.

9. Fluent in English, both spoken and written.

10. Post Graduate in Literature/Journalism/Communications or Language Studies.

- Should be familiar with content management systems (CMS) and be able to use them to publish, organize and archive content.

- Should be able to leverage social media to promote their content, engage with readers and build a loyal following.

- Should be able to work in an agile and flexible environment, adapting to change in technology, audience behavior and content trends.

- A good understanding of web analytics and be able to use data to make informed decisions about content creation and distribution.

- A good knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques to ensure content is easily discoverable to readers.
