Manager – Credit Risk

The jobholder shall have the following responsibilities:-

- Credit underwriting, monitoring and control for Commercial Banking business in UK

- Delivery of quality and timely approvals

- Maintain appropriate credit standards in the approval and control of lending

- Participate in the maintenance of a stable lending portfolio within Group and Commercial Banking policy objectives.

- Manage relationship with various stakeholders

- Coordinating with support functions for infrastructural and HR related issues

- Management of the workflows to ensure efficient operation of the unit

- Ensure business continuity and stability

- Participate in the GSD activities

Key activities and decision making areas

- Execute risk decisions with an appropriate awareness of risk vs return and the capital and risk benefits of using structured solutions wherever possible and appropriate.

- Deliver timely and well balanced risk decisions and recommendations. All risk decisions and dialogue must be delivered with professionalism and empathy, earning the respect of the business and adding value where appropriate

- Maintain strong working relationships with the respective Business Area and Risk Departments through efficient use of the available communication tools & effective networking via VCs/ phone calls, buddy meetings, etc.

- Seek appropriate opportunities to add value and undertake additional tasks and project work as appropriate.

- By providing appropriate advice and guidance to the Relationship managers in the business so as to maximize return & minimize risk to the Bank.

- By actively contributing to the activities & functions of GSD.

- Ensuring success of the centralized UK CMB Credit & Risk team through assisting in building a credible, capable and effective credit team.

- Maintaining a conservative, constructive and competitive approach to credit and balancing this with business needs

- Must be capable of giving a decision quickly. Must also be prepared to stand firm despite pressure to change opinion, but must not be totally inflexible as on occasions will need to compromise position, albeit not to expose the client Group to unnecessary risk. Needs to have a broad understanding of the Group and its business.

- Post Graduate - CA / MBA Finance

- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience

- In-depth understanding of credit products, accounting & financial analysis

- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
