Job Title: Credit Research - Distress Debt

Location: Mumbai

Key Roles & Responsibilities

- Support the distressed debt team of a global investment company; evaluating investment opportunities in the APAC region, primarily Indian entities admitted for bankruptcy or on the verge of getting bankrupt

- Perform due diligence and undertake fundamental analysis on multi-sectoral distressed investment opportunities

- Work closely with client's onshore team in recommending investments and assist in executing deals

- Good understanding of industries and businesses, ability to value companies with limited information

- Interact with external advisors and counterparties to manage due diligence efforts (extract information from a variety of sources for private names)

- Preparing tear sheets on prospective companies highlighting the recovery proposition

- Proactively engage with client's onshore team and provide support with time-bound ad-hoc research requests

- Train new hires and mentor juniors in the team

Functional & Behavioural Knowledge

- Good understanding of financial markets and specifically of local recovery/insolvency resolution process and waterfall

- Proficient in financial modelling and report writing with good understanding of financial statements and accounting concepts

- Valuation skills related to loans and bonds

- Experience in writing reports covering investment thesis and assessing recovery prospects

- Experience of using data sources like Bloomberg/Factset/Debtwire

Problem Solving

- Assist in solving complex problems related to valuation of distressed investment opportunities

Interactions

- Communicates with internal & external clients and/or issuers as necessary

- Adhere to the quality and stringent timeline requirements of a highly demanding client, and grow the team's expertise in distress debt work streams.

Minimum & Preferred Education

- MBA/CA/US CFA

Minimum & Preferred Experience / Skills

- 3-4 years of experience in covering distressed investment opportunities

- Ability to work under tight deadlines

- Highly analytical with the ability to independently work on assignments

- Excellent written and oral communication skills

- Should consistently show high conviction levels on one's work
