Credit Head - Bank/NBFC

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Credit Underwriting Manager to lead our credit underwriting team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in credit risk assessment, underwriting processes, and portfolio management. As a Credit Underwriting Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the credit underwriting process, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines, and managing the credit risk exposure of the organization.

Responsibilities:

- Hire, lead and manage a team of credit underwriters, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure high performance and productivity.

- Develop and implement credit underwriting policies, procedures, and best practices to mitigate credit risk and optimize lending decisions.

- Review and analyse credit applications, financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant information to assess creditworthiness and make informed lending decisions.

- Evaluate credit risk factors, industry trends, and economic conditions to identify potential risks and opportunities within the credit portfolio.

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including sales, operations, and risk management teams, to streamline processes and improve the efficiency of the credit underwriting function.

- Monitor portfolio performance, identify emerging credit trends, and recommend strategies to mitigate credit losses and optimize portfolio profitability.

- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards related to credit underwriting and risk management.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, CRC, etc.) is a plus.

- 6-10 years of experience in credit underwriting of unsecured loans in a bank or NBFC. Experience in underwriting loans to micro entrepreneurs is a plus

- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to effectively hire, manage and motivate a team of credit professionals.

- Strong understanding of credit risk assessment methodologies, underwriting principles, and regulatory requirements.

- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make sound lending decisions.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

- Detail-oriented and results-driven, with a focus on delivering high-quality work and achieving organizational objectives.
