Job Description

Credit research

1) Credit Analyst has to ensure that there is no default in the portfolio and proactively highlight the deterioration in invested companies

2) Credit Analyst should maintain and update in house credit models for financials and manufacturing companies at least on monthly basis and classify credits on green, yellow and red

3) Actively monitor all the credits in the portfolio, and discuss with CIO on monthly basis, so that portfolio returns and risk is optimized

4) Detailed financial model of these companies is to be maintained and updated on at least quarterly basis (other than unlisted companies)

5) Identify key downgrades & upgrades in advance

6) Timely completion of quarterly and annual credit review and coordinate with auditor for any query.

7) Monthly interaction with the managements and credit rating agencies on invested sectors and credit exposure.

8) Credit Analyst should regularly interact with equity team for current exposure and any new addition in credits.

Debt market research

9) Regular research and updation of macro-economic data and quick analysis, that could have impact on portfolios

10) Analyst is expected to also forecast key macro data like CPI, IIP, GDP, Fiscal deficit, key debt matrix etc.. well before release of official data

Tracking of debt markets

1) Alert FI team on important events, developments that impact the performance.

2) Conduct regular analysis of primary auctions/OMO and give feedback to the team

3) Maintain weekly tracker for FD rates, small saving rates, debt mutual funds flows, liquidity in the system

4) Provide market information / news/ technical to CIO/ Fund Manager in a timely and accurate manner

5) Highlight the activity in the market with the fund manager on a regular basis

6) Highlight deal activities etc. with the fund manager on a regular basis

7) Understanding and tracking of new ideas like fixed deposit, loans etc and discussing the same on regular basis with the Head FI.

Primary & secondary debt deals database & department MIS

1) Analyst is expected to weekly maintain the invested & prospective investment domestic and external bonds trades data, spread, OIS levels, yield curve

2) Analyst should also highlight weekly primary issuance in the market, spread analysis

3) Analyst should have ready MIS of key portfolio, products, AOP estimate, profit & loss data as required by CIO

Overall Contribution to the Dept.

This other regular house-keeping data, information answering queries that are targeted at investment department, which is evaluated at the discretion of Head of department

4) Analyst should be able to generate portfolio analytics and attribution reports regularly

5) In addition, analyst is expected to contribute to the department on the following

6) Daily inter-schemes & cash allocation should be handled as required.

MAJOR CHALLENGES

- Track domestic and global credit / financial parameters & macros

- He/She must be able to organize and manage their time to complete all tasks assigned within required timelines

- Help the fund manager and CIO in recommending trades (both from micro & macro perspectives) that can generate alpha for the organization

8. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Educational Qualifications

a) Qualifications

- CFA Level 1/ MBA / BE

b) Work Experience

- ~ 9 years experience in credit research & fixed income markets

- Strong understanding of Indian fixed income markets

- Analytical: Strong analytical skills. He/she must be able to collect market related data

- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills. He/she must communicate clearly and effectively with team members at all levels.

- Proficiency in Bloomberg, RBI's NDS OM, exchange based platforms like EPB & RFQ, Excel, Word and PowerPoint

- He/She must be able to organize and manage their time to complete all tasks assigned within required timeline
