JOB TITLE : Regional Counsel - India

DEPARTMENT : Law Department

I. Position Summary and Primary Responsibilities :

This position is based in Gurgaon/New Delhi NCR, India and will report on a solid line basis to Senior Regional Counsel for Emerging Markets. The chosen candidate will provide legal and compliance support to Corning's businesses primarily in India, and assistance to Senior Regional Counsel as needed in other countries in ASEAN region where Corning conducts business, advising regional operating executives and their teams on a wide range of commercial legal and compliance matters, and as such will be expected to have the ability to manage work in a multicultural, international environment and show empathy and respect for different cultures.

Primary Job Responsibilities :

- Act as the primary point of contact for several business units and accountable to the regional business teams for delivering timely and comprehensive legal and compliance support and advice

- Negotiate, draft and interpret a wide range of documents associated with a variety of commercial transactions

- Assist the Senior Regional Counsel for Emerging Markets in managing the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of a regional compliance program, which includes identifying high risk areas within Corning's regional operations and, in partnership with the businesses, recommending and implementing effective controls and processes, conducting internal investigations, and developing plans and training for mitigation of such risks

- Communicate and collaborate with Corning's global lawyers by facilitating timely involvement of regional counsel and division counsel in business decisions

- Understand Corning's global and regional operations and assist in the implementation of business strategies

- Assist the Senior Regional Counsel in proactively managing compliance concerns in the region presented by senior executives and operational leaders

- Identify training opportunities for business clients on legal and compliance issues

- Manage outside counsel involved in providing legal, compliance and regulatory advice

- Perform additional legal and compliance duties as experience and workload permit

II. Basic Qualifications :

A. Education :

- Graduate from top tier law schools in India, admitted to practice law in India

B. Experience :

- 8+ years experience, with at least four years- experience in India in a legal in-house position, preferably in a diversified global company

C. Other Requirements :

- Strong international commercial law background, including specific experience negotiating, drafting, interpreting and/or enforcing commercial contracts

- Expertise in general business law and commercial transactions

- Excellent working knowledge of global compliance laws and risks, including anti-corruption, data privacy, antitrust/competition, anti-boycott and global trade regulations

- Fluency in English and Hindi

- Able to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines and still contribute thoughtful and high-quality work product
