Department- Corporate Investigations, India & South Asia

Job purpose

- Organizations India & South Asia Corporate Investigations Practice is a rapidly growing team of consultants, all with experience in and a passion for the South Asia region. The team is based in two locations, Delhi and Mumbai. This role is for the Delhi team.

- Corporate Investigations Consultants gather and interpret information to fulfil the objectives of our investigations. Consultants are also required to present these findings to and manage clients, and to assist in developing the practice.

- The role of Consultant therefore requires considerable skills in terms of research and writing, business development, project management, and team work. Consultants will typically be expected to work on the following type of project:

- Business intelligence: this includes investigations to inform commercial and policy decision-making, and integrity due diligence to fulfil regulatory

Job Title- Consultant, India & South Asia, Corporate Investigations duties, specifically with regards to anti-corruption regulation. This work involves in-depth research and investigation of organisations, businesses and people using extensive research tools and a highly developed network of contacts.

In addition, over time Consultants will be expected to develop the skills to work on the following type of project:

- Investigations: this is the second broad component to our work and involves reacting to an issue, or a possible issue, impacting our client. This could include, but is not limited to: complex problem-solving, coordinating computer forensics activities, risk and threat assessments, investigation of intellectual property infringements, litigation support, and fraud investigations.

Tasks and responsibilities

Case Management

- Contribute to investigations from initial client enquiry through to delivery – including proposal and report writing and ongoing client management.

- Become familiar with and learn to effectively use all internal and external information resources available on a largely independent basis.

- Once familiar, manage and develop further external resources to support case work.

- Able to work closely with others to contribute to larger projects.

- Exhibit confidence, maturity and experience in speaking effectively to clients, to listen and address their issues and to creatively address their problems.

Business Development

- Contribute to marketing and profile raising events.

- Participate in client meetings.

- Begin to develop longer-term client relationships.

- Seek opportunities to develop projects and business generally, in conjunction with seniors.

- Seek opportunities to be involved in product development with seniors.

Team/Practice Development

- Maintain and develop new or enhanced sources, resources, subcontractors.

- Develop sector or geographic specialism to act as expert across the region.

Knowledge and experience

Knowledge

- Solid familiarity with South Asian current affairs, including political, economic, financial and regulatory developments.

- Ability to carry out thorough, relevant and detail oriented research that is comprehensive but succinct.

- Must be able to meet deadlines under pressure.

- Sound client facing skills for both regional and international businesses.

- Analytical & Interpretation skills.

- Decision making & judgment.

- Problem Solving - enquiring mind, lateral thinking.

Communication

- Presentation skills.

- Communication – written & oral/ability to communicate complex ideas concisely.

- Active listening.

Relationships/personal

- Interest in and ability to work as a part of a team, which at times will include working with colleagues in other offices and countries.

Qualifications and specialist skills

Essential:

- Excellent verbal and written English reporting skills.

- Previous experience operating within a commercial environment in a Client facing role.

- Educated to degree level (masters preferred).

- Experience in use of corporate, media and other specialist databases.

Preferred

- Working knowledge of one other language in India, Sri Lanka or Bangladesh.

- Network of investigative contacts and sources in the South Asia region.
