Introduction: Deshpande Foundation's mission is to create an ecosystem that would enable ideas and entrepreneurs to complement each other for a larger impact. With this in mind they set up the Social Innovation Sandbox in Hubballi, Karnataka, India in 2008. The idea was to co-create solutions with the community and build their capacities to spread the solution so as to create a larger impact the bottom of the pyramid. The solutions in the Sandbox are applicable to 1.1 billion people in India who live in semi-urban and rural communities. This program has now grown into a large non-profit organization and employs around 700 people. Their progress has been impressive. They have a 300,000 square foot Campus and a 100,000 square foot Incubator. The program has currently matured and has been successful in creating the following impact: - Thousands of farmers have doubled and some have tripled their annual income - Thousands of unemployed young men and women have been trained on their campus and are now fully employed - Thousands of micro entrepreneurs have been trained and have grown their businesses; some of them have doubled and a few of them have grown ten-fold - Thousands of students have developed their leadership skills by participating in projects that improve their communities - Thousands of companies have been incubated and are now employing people and growing their businesses Over the next few years, the Foundation wants to bring in systems approach to scale the promising solutions so that they can scale up the impact. Technology plays a very important role in scaling the solutions. The Deshpande Foundation believes in applying an entrepreneurial mindset to the implementation of an idea which is important for the achievement of efficiency and sustainability in the long run. The incumbent should be passionate about helping people at the bottom of the pyramid and willing relocate to Hubballi, Karnataka. Roles & Responsibilities: This individual will provide strategic thought leadership around how the Foundation can leverage technology to better the lives of the communities they serve. This person should possess a strategic mindset, focused on achieving results; strong interpersonal and leadership skills and the ability to support the IT team. The key roles and responsibilities: - Develop and implement a plan for scaling up the technology solutions for agriculture, skill development and micro entrepreneurship. - Collaborate with the IT team in creating technology roadmaps supporting product innovation and system scalability. - Take the initiative in thought leadership, innovation and creativity. - Creating and working with metric-based, result driven systems. - Owning the coordination and development of data mining, collection and analysis protocols. - Knowledge of key business / financial indicators and their implications. - Manage IT requirements to facilitate organization development and growth. - Managing a high performance team of 10 -15 individuals with a technology background. Must Haves: - Minimum 10 years of experience in IT Management, of which 5 years should be in a leadership role. - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent with passionate interest in creating social impact. - Comfortable with rapidly-changing technology situations to support a growing organization - Must have prior experience working as a product architect with hands-on activity during the product development phase - Proven understanding of business and predictive data analytics and KPI reporting - Must be a strong communicator and can articulate to management team on technology strategies and directions - Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders Note: The roles and responsibilities outlined above are not meant to be an exhaustive list of tasks.
