Chief Technology Officer (CTO/CIO) (18-22 yrs)

Role :

- We are currently seeking a Chief Technology Officer to lead the IT strategy development and implementation, companywide. The CTO will establish and direct the strategic long term goals, policies, and procedures for the IT department and determines the company's long-term systems- needs, as well as, software and hardware acquisitions that support the accomplishment of the company's business objectives.

- The position will provide the leadership for developing and implementing IT initiatives that are cost effective improve the organization's service quality and support business development. The CTO will lead the organization in planning, adaptation and implementing enterprise information systems to support both distributed and centralized business operations and achieve more cost beneficial enterprise-wide IT operations.

- The individual should be seen as an astute Business Advisor, being able to understand next generation technological strategies & adoptions of in- demand applications. This position will be responsible for aligning technology strategy with business strategies.

Responsibilities will, amongst other things, include :

- Provide leadership to the IT team and continue to build a team that is exceptionally customer-oriented, delivers business value and is well respected within the organisation.

- Partner with business, finance, human resources and other functions to ensure that IT needs are met efficiently and effectively.

- Continue to build and enhance an enterprise class IT security strategy including governance, processes and reporting mechanisms.

- Be responsible for the security and stability of the company's information technology resources. Prepare SOPs and direct the incident response team in the event of a technology emergency or breach of confidential information.

- Develop cost optimized strategies for System maintenance and asset utilization, which also address hardware and software obsolescence issues.

- Develops functional plans for managing information technology and system security for the company, including activities to be performed in-house or through third-party relationships to best manage the company's information systems and assets.

- Prepare enterprise objectives and budgets to facilitate the orderly and efficient capture, storage, processing, and dissemination of information.

- Responsible for the development, review, and certification of all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans.

- Ensures that information technology infrastructure provides the most accurate and current information to the company to assist with decision-making, resource deployment and establishment of business priorities.

- Serve as an internal change agent to drive business process and workflow improvements without introducing bureaucracy to the company's entrepreneurial environment.

- Serve as a true peer to other members of the senior management team, capable of contributing to the business strategy and operations

- Define an emerging technology strategy aligned to the company's business strategy and identify and support new technologies relevant to the growth plan of the company and advise senior management; identify and facilitate partnerships with technology companies.

- Provide technological project guidance within the organization; act as a consultant to internal stakeholders. Define and execute a comprehensive and scalable capital planning process, including project assessment, partnership with and support of key stakeholders, project planning and prioritization, budget development and management, project communication and execution, and reporting/metrics.

Experience and Background :

- Bachelor's degree in the field of computer science, engineering or related field is required. Master's degree in either of these fields or Master of Business Administration preferred.

- Having spent a minimum of 18 -20 years- in Logistics/FMCG/Retail/Financial Services industry in a leadership role is highly desirable, but other relevant backgrounds will be considered. Previous CIO or significant divisional IT leadership is required.

Competencies :

- Proven success serving as a strong change agent and leader, with a track record of elevating IT at the most senior levels in an organization and partnering as a trusted peer to the business.

- Reputation as a technology thought leader who is highly regarded as a senior IT executive. Exceptionally good verbal communication skills (both internal and external) are required.

- Thorough understanding of current and evolving technological landscape in IT domain.

- Ability to develop and coordinate project plans in a timely manner. Possess excellent organization, people, project and time management skills.
