Chief Operating Officer - Construction Business

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of Construction business. Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO will provide strategic direction, drive operational efficiency, and ensure the successful execution of projects.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leadership in the construction industry, with a focus on delivering results, fostering innovation, and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Execution:

- Collaborate with the CEO and other members of the executive team to develop and implement strategic plans that support the company's growth objectives.

- Drive the execution of strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

Operational Leadership:

- Oversee all operational functions, including project management, procurement, construction operations, and quality assurance.

- Implement processes and systems to optimize efficiency, minimize costs, and enhance overall operational performance.

- Provide leadership and guidance to department heads, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Project Management and Delivery:

- Ensure the successful execution of construction projects, from inception to completion, adhering to quality, budget, and schedule requirements.

- Monitor project performance, identify potential risks or issues, and implement corrective actions as needed to mitigate challenges and ensure project success.

Financial Management:

- Collaborate with the CFO to develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans for construction projects and operational activities.

- Monitor financial performance, identify opportunities for cost savings or revenue growth, and make data-driven decisions to drive profitability.

Risk Management and Compliance:

- Develop and implement risk management strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks associated with construction projects.

- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices, promoting a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organization.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

- Proven track record of leadership in the construction industry, with at least 10 years of progressive experience in operational roles.

- Strong understanding of construction processes, project management methodologies, and industry best practices.

- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, with excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.

- Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex issues, develop innovative solutions, and drive results.

- Proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and resource allocation, with a focus on maximizing profitability and efficiency.

- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, safety standards, and compliance practices relevant to the construction industry.
