Chief Operating Officer

Job Title : Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Organization : SAVE Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

Reporting to : Executive Committee

Location : Gaya, Bihar

INTRODUCTION :

SAVE Solutions Pvt Ltd (SAVE) is today one of the foremost and most innovative Banking Correspondent (BC) organizations in India. SAVE already operates successfully as BC for State Bank of India (SBI), Bank of India (BoI) and Purvanchal Gramin Bank (PGB) providing important banking and financial services through SAVE's innovative and self-sustainable kiosk banking network of 4,273 branded kiosks across 18 states and 423 districts, serving 60 lakh clients.

The Chief Operating Officer shall be in overall charge of the BC Operations. He shall be the key person responsible for leading and managing the BC team and delivering the output. He shall lead from the front and show confidence and leadership while delivering agreed upon business plan targets. With support from the team, he shall cover all aspects of the BC operations, including :

- Operations performance

- CSP operations quality

- Reporting quality and timelines

- Cost control

- Organize adequate support functions like HR, Training, Accounts, IT, CSP Care Centre along with CSP field operations.

- Formalize the work culture, with more emphasis on written communication and formal reporting

- He shall also ensure that team members are allotted fair amounts of work and are not over-burdened or idle.

Task Descriptions - With the help of his team, he shall be responsible for the following target areas :

- Leadership Matters : One of his core focus areas will be to assert himself as an effective leader for the operations team. His core focus areas would be :

- To supervise, motivate and mobilize the BC team, including DCs and CSPs.

- To anticipate, identify and resolve conflicts and inter-personal issues in the team.

- To evaluate the performance of DCs and CSPs.

Administration :

- He shall ensure that the following key tasks are properly implemented, followed up and maintained.

- Rent agreements of all offices

- Cash and asset insurance papers and payments

CSP Monitoring - With the help of DCs, he shall ensure that :

- The CSPs understand the company policies.

- The DCs maintain and follow the policies of the company.

- To train the DCs to ensure that all CSPs follow the policies of the company in a uniform and stringent manner.

- To promote best practices amongst CSPs.

- To train and ensure compliances at the CSPs (Code of Conduct)

- To identify and highlight areas where SAVE's policies need to be refined.

- To interact with HO team and circulate the finalized policies to the team.

CSP Reporting - With the help of DCs, he shall ensure that :

- CSP Managers are well communicated with, and are aware of the reports to be submitted, whether periodic or ad hoc.

- CSPs maintain a uniform pattern of Cash reporting on daily basis

- All reports, whether ad hoc or periodic are received on time and that proper follow up is done for non-submission

- Review with the DCs and MIS Operator/ Accountant, the reports reviewed from the CSPs.

MIS Implementation and Control - With the help of IT Manager he shall :

- Ensure that CSPs are utilizing the MIS software effectively.

- Ensure that CSPs, DCs are extracting and using the reports of the MIS software in their daily work.

- Ensure that data entry in MIS software is done on a day to day basis in a timely and consistent manner.

- Ensure that CSPs close their books on a day to day basis.

Internal Audit Compliance :

- He shall facilitate the internal audit schedule of Internal Audit team and also :

- Follow up on the compliance of the Internal Audit reports by the auditors.

- Ensure that issues pointed out in the internal audit report are fully resolved by the CSPs and that problems are not repeated.

The position of the COO is central to the success of the BC and quality can be achieved only through his/her active involvement and self-development.

Desired Qualifications :

- Preferably an MBA

- Must have a track record in a senior management capacity in micro-finance institutions or in the institutions working under Savings led Business Correspondence model

- 8-10 years of direct experience preferably in micro finance or NBFC or BC Business

- Must have experience into opening up new Branches/CSPs

- Depth of experience in credit operations, knowledge of Bank and/or Non-Bank Financial Institution operations

- Strong Skills in financial analysis, risk management and human resources management. Ability to lead, manage and coordinate large and multi-disciplinary teams.

- Skills in back-office banking operations, marketing, credit controls, and MIS are sought. Strong management skills; excellent negotiation, marketing and presentation skills.

- Excellent leadership, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.

- Must be willing to travel extensively almost up to 50% of the time
