A large Indian conglomerate is looking for a Chief Information Officer(CIO).

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is a senior executive responsible for overseeing an organization's information technology (IT) strategy, operations, and systems. CIO should have the ability to formulate and execute IT strategies that support the company's long-term growth and competitiveness in the industry. This includes leveraging emerging technologies, implementing digital transformation initiatives, and enhancing cybersecurity measures.

The job description of a CIO typically includes the following key responsibilities:

- Strategic Planning: Developing and implementing the organization's IT strategy aligned with business goals and objectives. This involves understanding the company's needs and leveraging technology to enhance efficiency, innovation, and competitive advantage.

- Technology Infrastructure: Overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's IT systems, networks, hardware, software, and cybersecurity measures. Ensuring systems are secure, reliable, and scalable to meet current and future needs.

- Data Management: Managing the organization's data resources effectively, including data storage, analytics, and ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations.

- Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Developing and managing the IT budget, allocating resources appropriately, and identifying cost-effective technology solutions.

- Team Leadership: Leading and managing the IT department or teams, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

- Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Collaborating with external vendors, partners, and internal stakeholders to negotiate contracts, evaluate technology solutions, and ensure alignment with business objectives.

- Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management : Assessing IT-related risks, implementing strategies to mitigate them, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Deep understanding of industry regulations, data security, privacy laws, and risk management practices relevant to the steel industry.

- Communication and Reporting: Providing regular updates to senior leadership on IT performance, projects, and initiatives, effectively communicating the value of IT investments to non-technical stakeholders.

- Continuous Improvement: Staying updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices, and integrating new methods and tools to enhance the organization's IT capabilities continually.

Requirements:

- Education: A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is often the minimum requirement. Advanced degrees such as an MBA /Advanced Technology Coerces or a master's degree in a relevant field could be beneficial.

- Experience: Extensive experience (10+ years) in IT leadership roles within the manufacturing sector, preferably in steel or heavy industries. Familiarity with the nuances of the steel industry, including production processes, regulatory compliance, supply chain intricacies, and industry-specific challenges, is highly advantageous.

- Technical Expertise Strong technical proficiency in enterprise-level IT systems, infrastructure, and software relevant to the steel industry. Knowledge of manufacturing systems, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems, supply chain management, industrial automation, and IoT (Internet of Things) applications in a manufacturing context would be valuable.

- Leadership Skills: Proven leadership capabilities to manage a diverse IT team, oversee complex projects, and align technology initiatives with business objectives. Experience in developing and implementing IT strategies that drive operational efficiency, cost optimization, and innovation within the steel industry.

- Communication and Business Acumen: Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and to articulate the value of IT investments in driving business outcomes. Strong business acumen to align IT initiatives with overall business strategies and goals.

- Project Management: Proficiency in project management methodologies for overseeing data architecture projects.
