Introduction : LEPRA Society, - LEPRA,- is the country's leading leprosy NGO. Based in Hyderabad, LEPRA operates in 8 states and 1 union territory and has 500 paid staff and a turnover of INR 280 million. LEPRA's priority is finding and treating people affected by leprosy and lymphatic filariasis. The organisation was created in 1988, but can trace its history to 1924. Since then, LEPRA has been a leader in developing case finding techniques, leprosy research and advancing the understanding of the cause and treatment of the disease. LEPRA has world-recognised expertise in early diagnosis, management of disabilities and in evidence-based projects. The organisation works in India, which is responsible for over 60% of the global incidence of leprosy, with state and central governments to bring about change. In addition to the focus areas of leprosy and lymphatic filariasis, LEPRA also works with TB, HIV/AIDS, eye-care, malaria and disabilities arising from other diseases. LEPRA works at the grass-root level focusing on health improvement activities in the community that are marginalised or poor, especially women and children, young people, slum populations and migrants affected by the above-mentioned diseases and tries to bring about positive changes in their life-style. Owing to their quality and direct community action at the grass-root level LEPRA has been successful in collaborating with state governments to combat neglected tropical diseases. LEPRA acts as a bottom up organisation with excellent and dedicated project staff. The organisation operates in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Delhi. They are a part of the international - Lepra- organisation with whom they work closely and so LEPRA has global influence and access to restricted and unrestricted international funding. Reason for hire : This is a replacement hire as the earlier Chief Executive Officer who was there since 2014 is transitioning out of the organization. LEPRA is seeking to hire an effective leader with excellent managerial skills with the ability to influence health and policy and secure funding for the organisation. The expectation is for the new CEO to take full responsibility of the organization, build of the existing strength of LEPRA and achieve the strategic objectives as directed by the Board. Roles &amp; Responsibilities : - Listen and respond to the needs of the people affected by leprosy and lymphatic filariasis. - Seek approval for plans and budgets to the Board Management Committee and ensure submission of reports and progress against objectives. - Define the objectives and monitor, evaluate and report on organisational performance. - Manage resources in a legally compliant, efficient and effective manner. - Guide the senior staff in implementing strategy, including the planning of projects, new initiatives and seeking collaboration and partnerships. - Raise Lepra's public profile and foster good relationships with governments and other statutory and private bodies and with local and international NGOs. - To support and develop Lepra's fundraising activities, build strong partnerships with donors and help identify funding opportunities. - Develop programming and grant management strategies and systems that are effective and aligned with the organization's vision/mission. - Ensure the best asset investment, management and financial administration strategies and systems. - To ensure an organisational culture in line with Lepra's values with policies that are fair and consistently implemented to create a supportive working environment with well-motivated, high quality staff. - To facilitate and strengthen the development of the Board Management Committee, work closely with them and making sure that they are informed in good time about key developments. - To develop and maintain strong two-way lines of communications throughout the organisation. - Liaise with Lepra UK regularly to ensure smooth cooperation, funding, reporting and advocacy. Appraise them of all-important developments and achievements. Note : The roles and responsibilities outlined above are not meant to be an exhaustive list of tasks. The need for flexibility is required and the job holder is expected to carry out any other related duties that are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever necessary. Must Haves : - Minimum 15 years of relevant work experience with at least 3 years in a strategic leadership role with the ability to inspire and lead a senior management team. - Excellent knowledge of public health, epidemiology, leprosy or other neglected tropical diseases. - Prior experience of programme and project management with proven understanding of organisational financial management and business planning. - Experience of charity or corporate governance including working with a Board, "the General Management Committee". - Persuasive communication skills and the capacity to deliver complex messages to a variety of audiences, raising the profile of the organization. - Experience of institutional and unrestricted fundraising. - Evidence of forging strategic alliances and the ability to influence at a governmental and civil society level. - Experience of working at senior level in a civil society organisation and willingness to uphold the non-governmental principles of impartiality and independence.
