Chief Executive Officer - General Insurance (15-20 yrs)

Designation :


CEO-General Insurance Company at Uganda (East Africa)


Qualification: Insurance qualified Detailed JD- CEO reports to the Group MD for all his allotted functions.


His responsibilities include :


- Building and strengthening of the teams in various departments viz. UW, Reinsurance, Claims & Establishment


- Claims To ensure judicious settlement of claims while constantly grooming the team and making them aware of the policy conditions and its impact on claim admissibility as well as quantum.


- Effective scrutiny of claims and interactions with assessors , intermediaries and clients with broad aim to make the claims settlement process to be more friendly and empathetic and through which improve the image of the Company.


- Sharing claims experience with underwriting dept. to further the goal of prudent underwriting and building of a balanced portfolio for the Company


- Pursuing claims recoveries from treaty and FAC reinsurers / participants


- Investigations of claims / losses to ascertain genuinity


Legal Claims :


- Understanding the issues when any case is brought up and explore if the matter can be settled or compromised out of court.


- Ensuring proper defence in cases brought against our Company.


- Learning from the issues raised and rectifying any short comings on our side.


Compliance :


- Regulatory / Govt. Authorities


- Timely response to TIRA, Ombudsman and such other authorities on any issues raised by them.


Establishment :


- Transparent procedures for purchases


- Compliance of regulations of various authorities


Establishment :


Human Resources :


- Managing HR Department


- Managing recruitment & exits


- Maintenance of HR records


- Ensuring compliance with ELRA and other labour laws


- Enforcing discipline & decorum in office


- Maintaining harmonious industrial relations


- Managing staff benefits


- Facilitating training for employees


- Human Resources


Reinsurance :


- Finalisation of Reinsurance Treaty


- Reinsurance underwriting & claims


Underwriting :


- Ensuring judicious underwriting in line with Company policies & objectives


- Supervising implementation of loss minimization measures


- Ensuring speedy issuance of policy documents to meet customer demands


- Development & introduction of innovative products in the market


Candidate Profile:


- Should be very well versed and a hands on person on Insurance Claims and Underwriting.


- Should have successful track record in driving top and bottom line.


- Excellent relationship Skills


- Should be well versed in Reinsurance.


- Must have a minimum 15-20 years of continuous General Insurance managerial experience.


- Qualified with Insurance Certification
