Chief Engineer - Engineering Research Center - Vehicle Platform

Purpose of the role:

The Chief Engineer role for a platform plays a significant role due to the huge technical leadership required to lead and coach at strategic level with Vehicle Line Team (VLT).

Context:

The job holder will have responsibility as:

- Strategize the product delivery plan along with Product Planning & Program Management (PPPM) team.

- Driving the business deliverables in terms of cost and timelines to meet the vehicle programme schedule.

- Driving the technology roadmap for the platform and implement suitable new technology to keep platform competitive

- Member of the Leadership Team in PV engineering function of ERC at HoD level.

The job holder reports to the Technical Director of the programme.

Qualifications Preferred:

Likely to be qualified Graduate Engineer or higher with appropriate professional body recognition. Masters’ in Business Administration degree is preferable.

Skills and Knowledge:

- General technology knowledge in automotive and future development & innovations in automobile segment and related sectors

- Advanced Vehicle Integration knowledge along with Program / Project Management

- Effective resource estimation & budgeting

- Able to build strong relationships in a matrix organisation very quickly

- Vendor Management

- Mentally agile and decisive - sound technical and commercial judgement

- Able communicator

- Strong influencing skills

- Innovative

- Expert negotiator

Experience:

- Expectation of min 20 years management team experience

- Direct experience in multiple project and technology innovation deliveries as Chief Engineer

- Comfortable and experienced at dealing with different cultures

- Ability to work with in-house and outsourcing model in automobile segment
